Top quality, loved how the gorgeous Mr Gene Hunt carried little Alex into the office, paralleling his carrying of Big Alex in episode one! 2009 seems a long way away.

Didn't watch LOM, didn't think I'd like A2A at all - how wrong could I be - brilliant!
Sarah Smith, Pontypridd on March 29th, 2008
Fantastic series from start to finish, Phil and Keely did an amazing job. Loved the characters, the music was excellent and the episodes were the best that British TV viewers have seen in years! Can't wait for the second series. Wish I could time-travel a year from now to save the gut-wrenching wait!!!

I absolutely loved it - lots of clever links to previous episodes and a real shock ending!

A stunning finale to a series that started acceptably and steadily improved. Loving the new direction it has taken from Life on Mars, and truly impressed with the writing, acting, directing and camera-work.

Excellent ending, very well-balanced episode (humour and dark), lots of plot strands tied up but left very open for the expected second season. First class!

Being a massive fan of Life on Mars, I was really looking forward to this - the 80's being my era. However, the first episode left me a bit cold, but I stuck with it. I'm so glad I did - it just got better and better! The finale was fantastic and although it cleared a lot of things up, it still leaves us with so many questions. Roll on series 2.

I'd heard LOM was good but always thought it wouldn't be my cup of tea. After watching Ashes I've now gone back & watched both series 1 & 2 of LOM. All great (it's got the Gene Genie, how can you go wrong?!). Still prefer Ashes though, great ending, can't wait for 1982.

i thought it was great and cant wait for series 2!

A fantastic series, with a brilliant, original female character (god knows we need some more of those!) reminiscent sometimes of the capricious, missish and tenacious Scarlett O'Hara, and at others winning us over with her sex appeal, fierce intelligence and determination. A great final episode- laughs, tears, and some super twists. Keep it up Keeley, Phil et al!

I thought it weak. Yes, it was an interesting twist, but if, as Alex believes, it's just a figment of her imagination, then what does it mean? I studied psychology in the 1970's. If you started talking about being from the future or everybody around you being a figment of your imagination, then you would have been sectioned and you would have had ECT, powerful medication or, possibly brain surgery, until you felt better. Personally I think that Gene Hunt is a psychopomp - he's in charge of people between life and death.

This episode was one of the best ever, including episode six. The bit where the dad turned into the clown, had me on the edge of my seat. Where Gene took little Alexs' hand brought a lump to my throat. And when Alex and Gene where having dinner and he was just rambling on, I thought -awww he's so sweet- The end music, Supertramp - Take the long way home was an excellent choice, I think Evan is a devious wierd old man lol. Brilliant ending to a brilliant T.V. show, 2009 is a long way off, a whole year without Gene and Alex, Chris and Shaz, (thinks of a pair) Ray and his lovely singing voice -referring to the song 2,4,6,8 its never too late out of the last episode- haha. Loving it Ray. Loving the show ab-fab 100/100 =]

Absolutely Brilliant - how will we survive until A2A Series 2 ?. Congratulations to all the actors and writers for a wonderful show.

Mostly women giving Gene the thumbs-up, I notice - ho ho. Quite right too. How come no-one twigged that the clown and Tim Price were one and the same? I worked that one out by episode 2 (smug, moi?). Great speech by Gene in the finale. Hope we see more of Viv in the next series - he really developed as a character, as did the delightfully complex Shaz. Roll on Series 2 – there's all that Spooky MI6 paranoid conspiracy stuff to unravel, and the potential for Alex to have a relationship of some kind with her young self. Christmas 2009 special: Gene and Alex become Dr Who's new companions.... (in fact - Phil Glenister as the new Dr Who - there's a thought!)

Cliched, parody. Weak plots, not plausible, or totally predictable. does not sum up the feel of 1981. feel it was rushed and became complacent. Such a shame when life on mars was superb.Keely hawes utterly abysimmal in this

Ashes to Ashes was superb. Like others, Life on Mars had passed me by but I have now caught up on the boxed sets. This has to be the most original concept to hit our screens in years and yet, it really does capture some truths. Gene's rant was a real highlight and the twist at the end was a true shocker. More like this from the Beeb and I will stop moaning about the licence fee!

Loved A2A - genius twist ending that was an out of the blue shocker. Gene is the reason I watch though one of the best characters to grace my TV ever...only tiny let down Shaz should have stayed dead was a complete cop-out and ruined the emotion and tension of that episode with her 'death scene' and Chris's reaction. Still 5* though! And all the New Romantic stuff was brilliant more, more, more!
