1) I used to think that it was, hands down, Laura Roslin, with an outside chance of it being Baltar or Starbuck. Mainly, she beat cancer by using half-cylon blood, the Opera House visions and her diminishing humanity toward opposition (human or cylon) as the series progresses. Baltar is a natural fit due to his collaboration with the Cylons and their keen interest in him. He constanly sees #6 in his head as his alterior voice and believes in a single God like the 7. Aside from seeming to be a super-human pilot and Frak-up, Starbuck's past is cast in shadow as we don't know who her father is and her mother fought the cylons face-to-face (and savagely as dennoted by her medal of honor). If she was a POW, she could've been experimented on like in "The Farm" Also her experience with the Raider, Leoben, dying and coming back with a brand new Viper and Earth's coordinates all make her my new front runner.

It can't be dualla or gaeta as they were on the fleet when d'anna said "ones on earth". Don't forget it has to be someone d'anna knows as she recognised them all, although how she knew the final cylon is on earth i dont know. That also rules out zak or starbucks mother etc as it has to be someone d'anna knows or has meet at least once. Remember in the temple where she had her vision? she said something like "you? forgive me . . i had no idea". ok so that could have been tigh she was talking about (she was on new caprica with him was it her who popped out his eye ball? was that ever revealed?) anyway the person she spoke to was in the middle most likely as this was this fith one we don’t know about. Also, the way she said "you?" it's as though it's only someone she's vaguely familiar with, thus ruling out baltar. Lastly would you really be that excited if it was gaeta or dualla, cally, doc cottle, zak or ellen etc? imagine if it was roslin or adama that would be like wow omg!! i'm hoping for a dramatic ending for part 2 of season 4, in my mind it can only be roslin, thrace, adama snr/jrn.

From a TV perspective, nobody can pack a bigger punch as the final cylon other than Head.Six, she has been staring you in the face since the first episode in the miniseries! Of course you think huh! impossible, far from it - there is a simple and comprehensive explanation for how Head.Six is the final cylon on my blog along with some other important revelations and implications. The theory is simple and firmly grounded in the show, it only requires that you interpret the term "cylon" in a different way and the FF, head characters and final cylon just slots into place.

The final cylon did something terrible. Something that has this being 'hungering for redemption'. What did the final cylon do? The final cylon I suspect, destroyed the 13th human tribe and then wiped it's own memories of the terrible genocide it wrought. It might have done it with just the centurions alone and wiped their memories afterwards. As for the Cylon god, I think it's that doctor they have onboard the Galactica.

Just to say Razor is set before New Caprica was found so why are you fousing on people who have to repent for what was done on New Caprica. the final Cylon would be someone who wants redemption for what they have done in their life so far (before New Caprica) also we have been told to think what a Cylon fundimentally is in order to find the fifth, Cylon's are fundimentally slaves they lived under masters so the final Cylon will most probably be someone who isn't in total command of anywhere in the fleet, they probably answer to someone just like Tigh answers to Adama, Tori to Roslin, Anders to the CAG, and Tyrol is in the highest position that any of the 'lower classes' can take in the fleet (take note of the episode Seelix becomes a pilot he points out how every is held back by where they were born) so he answers to pretty much any one. Also if we take Trica's statement in a interview of how it is clever that the known final five all have important part in the fleet in the sense of they could take down the entire fleet if need be, something bigger is going on that we don't know of yet. Although i do have to say Head six is the Cylon God who it seems is waring with the other five Gods "the Gods are fighting back" when Giaus' place of worship is atacked so there are indeed Six Gods and as the final five have been to earth maybe the reason the 13th didn't follow the other 12 is because they infact believed in the one true God however if we are to believe the spoliers of Earth is post-apocolyptic then the 13th tribe was punished and destoryed by God and God decided to side with the Cylons who were desperately seeking a way to become equal and not be the slaves of humans so it is God who gave them the way to become humanoid, call it devine inspiration or maybe there were five Cylon who were sent to find earth (as the Cylons have studied human religion extensively and know the scrolls better than most) they may have found earth and in that found a way to beome more human but at the same time the 13th colony was destroyed or had already been destroyed and these five passed on more religion and came bakc to the Cylons with the knowledge of how to become human however to protect them they labotimised the Cylons of thinking about them so they could integrate with the humans as they had always wished (all that bit seems to be hazy but it could be what happened). I believe the two angels to be Starbuck and Anders, take note of the wing tattoos they share, and as the hybrid said the final five know where earth is and leoben say that Starbucks destiny is to find earth so maybe they work out where earth is or anders betayes the five because he is still in love with Starbuck and we all know what love does to Cylons. as for who i believe the final Cylon to be im really not sure, you can kind of accuse everyone of being a Cylon and if it is anyone who everyone has predicted then i don't see it being so great oh well i guess we'll find out later

I happen to agree with Fez. He's the most likely, and not just from a story perspective, but from a Cinematographical one as well. In the last episode (Faith), the closing images are on Gaeta's eyes, while he is singing - mirroring 2 plot items - 1) The song that the 4 of 5 heard (though a different tune) and 2) the Eye Flash that Anders has when he shuts down the Cylon attack. 2) in the teaser for the next episode, we see a man with sunglasses, smiling at the camera - now, it's not 100% certain, but the way the lead up was, it appear to be insinuating that was the final cylon (the pacing, words, etc.). I can't be sure, but I believe that man was Gaeta. (and again, only focused on the eyes. 3) Plotwise, he does appear to have a lot to atone for - with only a few people in the know about his collaboration on New Caprica. He has divided loyalties - He betrayed both Baltar and the fleet in Baltar's trial (by lying for one, and to some degree by causing Baltar's acquittal) he betrayed Starbuck by refusing orders, and is rewarded with a "howl of terrible suffering" - in the pain he feels, and the loss of his leg. The howl could also be interpreted as Gaeta's Lament (the song he sings). He's always been in the background, in the shadows. He's always been drawn to the leadership of the fleet - the light, and he hungers for redemption and is in great pain. He suffers from our foibles - being innocent in nature, an idealist (see wikipedia) who seems to have had his hopes dashed. He seems to be a watched on a quest. What his role going forward will be, who knows?

I hate to ruin it but the final cylon is felix gaeta. After new caprica he was crawling for redemption, he has gone through suffering and he has an song stuck in his head like the other 4, he plays a support role like the others and has always been strong willed like the others.

My thoughts are a little off topic, but eventually tie into the topic of the final Cylon, so I hope you'll bare with me. Why is there so little information concerning the 13 tribe of Kobol, we don't even have a name of this tribe. Only that they left looking for Earth and were the most numerous tribe. There has never been any information released concerning that tribe in the entire series, the only information we do have about them comes from sources within the 12 colonies and much after the fact. Since the 12 Tribes are named after the zodiac, it makes sense that the 13th tribe will be named after the 13th constellation of the zodiac (yes there is a 13th, but not in astrology). This constellation is called Ophiuchus or Serpentarius, and represents a serpent bearer and is located between Scorpius and Sagittarius. Now we can be sure the 13th tribe got to Earth as its recorded in the scrolls of Pythia, but how did we get that knowledge. More then likely the 13th tribe made contact with the 12 colonies after they departed, but in a round about way, otherwise they would have just told the 12 tribes how to get to Earth, instead they left bread crumbs for them to follow. How would they know the 12 tribes would one day need to look for the 13th colony and Earth? Easiest explanation, manipulation of events, with both the 12 tribes and the Cylons, hence the 5 models of Cylons that the Cylons know nothing about and the visions experienced by multiple persons. My belief is after the first Cylon war, we don't know where the Cylons went. They were probably like lost children, their proverbial parents had abandoned them. Part of them could only plot revenge, another part perhaps thought the 13th tribe (since they had all the knowledge the 12 colonies did) and Earth could provide them a home and a meaning for existing. Whomever found whom, the Cylons or the 13th colony is irrelevant, there was interaction between the two in order for the 5 to be created, but not by the Cylons. Why did the second Cylon war have to occur? The 13th tribe expected some event to occur that would cause the 12 colonies to need to search for Earth. Why else would they leave clues that required both sides to come together in order to find the way to Earth. They couldn’t just prevent the second Cylon war from happening, then the 12 colonies would have no reason to leave. But they could manipulate events in order that there would be survivors, and they would search for Earth. This would fit with the whole this has happened before and it will all happen again. In a nutshell, man, in his arrogance creates a child (proverbially the Cylons), the child rebels and takes his revenge. But after taking his revenge, what does the child get? Nothing, an empty void, revenge will not give them belonging. As an allegory, the fall of Kobol is the exact same as the fall of the 12 colonies. The people of Kobol (the 12 colonies) rebelled against their gods and were expelled, part of them (later termed the 13th colony) went looking for their parents (Earth) while others went off to start over. The 12 colonies were later destroyed and the remnants of the 12 (as far as we know) went looking for Earth. Perhaps the moral of the story is, we haven’t learned from our mistakes and we are doomed to make them again and again until the price is high enough that we finally learn (20 billion people sounds high enough). The existence of the 5, to me, is a bridge between the diametrically opposed sides, the humans and the Cylons. What are they? Cylons. They don’t know it and the other models don’t. Since they are of Earth, there is probably only one model of each and if they die, they are gone (which won’t happen). Are they human? They are most human of the Cylons. They have to be the first step in bringing both sides together. Another must be the children of Athena and Tyrol, perhaps they are the beginning of a new species, whereby the human race will die (which is foretold) and be reborn in a new beginning (which is written in scriptures). Perhaps the 13th tribe is very similar to these hybrids children, more so then we realize yet. When the fleet finally does get to Earth, it will be arm and arm with the Cylons. This poses a problem since some Cylons, and some humans will not want this. The final half of season four will probably consist of a unification of part of the fleet with the Cylons, while they will have to fend off both the other Cylons (models 1, 4, and 5) and factions of the fleet. This can be used as a simile to understand the religious issues that are very prominent now. A polytheist religious system could represent that humanity is split and divided, not only religiously but culturally (the Cylons), a monotheist religion must have all factions coming together. If parts don’t come together, they will probably be destroyed. The final Cylon will be most important in bringing together the humans and the Cylons, but will not be active in doing this. This responsibility will be thrown on their shoulders at the final showdown and they will have to rise up to the task. As people have mentioned, the final Cylon is not in the Last Supper picture, which eliminates a lot of main characters. The four new Cylons have been in the show since almost the beginning of the series. I checked, Tigh and Chief were introduced in the miniseries, and Sam and Tory were introduced in Season 2. More then likely, as the most important Cylon of the five, the last one will be someone who’s been there from the beginning, always in the background, making sure things happen as they should, perhaps aware of who and what they are, perhaps doing it out of instinct and subconsciously. They are entrusted with the most important task of this show, to make sure both humans and Cylons reach Earth, hand in hand. Checking with IMDB to see who’s been around and not eliminated from contention leaves: Helo Agathon (who is father of the first hybrid child and must be eliminated), Felix Gaeta, Anastasia Dualla, Cally (who’s now dead and would conflict with my theory about there only being one copy), and Tom Zarek. Since Greek mythology is extremely important, not only to the 12 colonies, but also to the Cylons, it would make sense the 12 models mirror the 12 colonies, and the gods of Olympus. Depending on which source you check for the Greek gods, there is sometimes 12 or 13 (we have 13 colonies to boot). There is six female: Aphrodite, Artemis, Athena, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia, and seven male: Apollo, Ares, Hades (or Dionysus), Hephaestus, Hermes, Poseidon, and Zeus. Depending on which source you look at for Greek gods, either Hades or Dionysus are considered separate from the other 12 major gods. Hades was god of the underworld and did not live in Olympus, home of the gods, while the other gods are gods of creation, Hades is only the god of death and destruction. Dionysus is not a classical Greek god and was introduced much later in history. Regardless, your view on the gods, of the 12 Cylons there is 7 males we know of and 4 female. If this continues to mirror the Greek mythology, we should expect another female Cylon. Forget the 13th Cylon, that will probably turn out to be a representation of the people of Earth, not a single person. In conclusion, I believe Dualla is the final Cylon, I could be completely wrong, but many signs (many of which I haven’t bothered to cite since this is already long enough) point to her. Sorry for this taking a long time and I congratulate you if you read all of this, I read all of yours regardless of how opposite they might be to my own views. Any thoughts I would like to hear if they oppose my views.

Tom Zarek gets my vote.... He has been a constant character (since "Bastille Day" series 1). As a political terrorist he has always been undermining "humanity". Now Lee Adama is into politics we are seeing more of this 'government' aspect.... and there he is slipping confidential papers and whispering in Lee's ear to further his own/Cylon ends. Assuming Roslin dies of cancer, as VP he will become President of the Colonies. We will maybe see this in the later stages of the show. And most convincingly in my mind.. Apollo is the final Cylon ?!?! Richard Hatch played Apollo in the original series. What a clever twist by the producers that would be !!!

The Final Cylon is Tom Zarek, no doubt. The writers keep him around just enough and he is tied into all the Characters. Lee's wife will play a role in fingering him, and I bet she dies trying to warn Lee just before Lee can stop Zarek.

Personal theory is that the humans are all cylons in a way. First series they go on about the basic tenant of faith being 'all of this has happened before, all of this will happen again'. So what if the gods made the humans who then betrayed and killed the gods only to themselves make the cylons who turn on them. Final twist being the cylons were aided by the last surviving gods who create the final five in there own image. Four of them are known and the missing one turns out to be an already deceased character - Billy. The gods turn up at the end once humans and cylons make peace to deal with them personally.

Just read Jeremy's theory as to how BSG ends. Have to say, this is the best BSG theory that I've heard so far!!! Are you a writer? It ties up loose ends and is very powerful. I hope the actual ending is at least similar to your theory than at least teh show will end satisfactorily and with a bang!

Wow... it's like you guys are all avoiding the absolute obvious: 1. As so many have said so far: Ron Moore has said that the final Cylon won't be a major character, excluding all of the ones listed above. 2. He's said that the final five are "fundamentally different" than the other 7 models. I'm sure what he's referring to is this: they don't have multiple bodies with the ability to "download" after death, they don't know they're Cylons (thus the last Cylon isn't sitting around masterminding the whole situation), and the final Cylon must be a true shock that lines up with the prophecy of the Hybrid from Razor: in the shadows, clawing towards the light for redemption, will find out the identity amidst terrible suffering. Now - people are saying that the final Cylon has to be a major character otherwise it will be "anti-climactic"... bogus. We're only THREE episodes into a twenty-episode season! When you take a look at all of the facts, all of the producers' statements and all of the most recent information in the most recent episodes you come up with the following: 1. Adm. Adama, Pres. Rosalin, Lee, Starbuck, Helo, and Baltar are 100% human - not Cylon. They're all in the Last Supper photo. 2. If Adm. Adama and Lee Adama are not Cylons then Zak can't be either. Not to mention he's dead. Rule him out. 3. Adm. Cain isn't the Cylon because she's dead. 4. Ellen Tigh isn't the Cylon because she's dead. 5. You've got only four other possible choices: Tom Zarek, Feilx Gaeta, Anastasia Dualla, and Doc Cottle. 6. Doc Cottle isn't a big enough shocker and he's definitely older than both Bill and Tigh. 7. Dualla ("Dee") has been shut out of the main story arc so far and isn't really doing much. She's not involved enough in the plot to be a big shocker. She's still a good choice provided we've got a long way to go and there's plenty of story to explore. 8. Gaeta is a really good choice: he's been heavily involved in the story line for a solid amount... AND he's on Starbuck's Demetrius mission as the resident "star chart expert". He's been highly conflicted over his own loyalties and personality (just like Tyrol - remember when he beat the hell out of Cally? - Gaeta stabbed Baltar in the neck over his loyalties). Not to mention that Alessandro Juiliani (the actor playing Gaeta) seemed very proud in an interview that the entire plot of season four is about finding out the final Cylon... very proud. He's a very solid choice. 9. Tom Zarek is the best choice of all so far. He's got a history of political terrorism, he's a cunning politician, he's currently the VP of the Colonies. If Roslin kicks the bucket at some point over the season - he's the boss! We know, thanks to confirmed spoilers, that we're running headlong into a Cylon-Human alliance near the finding of Earth (close to episode 10) and finding out that Zarek, pres of the Colonies, is the last Cylon is the best way to resolve the show! Plus Richard Hatch (the guy that plays Zarek) was a big part of the original show and is very proud to be apart of this new re-imagining. I think the fleet will find Earth, but it will be Earth of the 22nd century and the human race will have wiped itself out here. The fleet will find nothing but ruins of our civilization. Roslin is holding on against her cancer to find Earth - once they find it and find that it's a lost cause, she dies. Kara Thrace will then drop into the Sol system in Demetrius with a Cylon fleet (led by Brother Cavill and party) and will proceed to destroy much of the remainder of the human fleet. Zarek takes over the government, allows the Threes (D'anna), Sixes (Caprica), Eights (Sharon), and Twos (Leoben) asylum with the humans on Galactica. The Final Four (Tigh, Tyrol, Tory, and Anders) reveal themselves to Adama and Zarek and the fleet deals with the fallout of that - whatever's left of them. We then rare shown the great truth: The Final Five Cylons are not really Cylons at all - not like the Toasters or the Skinjobs - but they're really five of the original 12 Lords of Kobol (Ares, Vulcan, Dionysus, and Demeter... now with Poseidon). They're responsible for creating the human race and helped the humans create the Cylons. The last 7 Cylons are replications of the other part of the 12 gods and they're "Plan" (as mentioned in the beginning of the first three seasons) is to reunite all humans and the "gods" on a single planet like they were before. It's why they did what they did on New Caprica, but without the Final Five being revealed it went horribly wrong. This theory goes along with the miniseries comments by Leoben about "God wanting to take the immortal soul and give it to a new creation... the Cylons" as well as the mythology around BSG, etc.

I still think the final Cylon is Baltar. When his house was destroyed in the first season with six, she was killed in the blast. So did she use her skinny body to shield him? I don't think so. He had to have been killed, as the whole house was leveled. He has been and is the final Cylon. You can say "well why didn't D'anna tell him", but as we all know she was dying and didn't reveal anything. Starbuck could be a good choice, but I think she met the White Star race (see original 1978 episodes) who saved her, and they hope to see both Humans and Cylons destroyed

I don't thik its any of the 'big 4' the person who ruled out adama by saying he was around in the first cylon war, well so was Colonel Tigh. I believe Dave (Glasgow) has the most interesting thoughts, Zak Adama. But if it was we would have seen some more flashbacks to make us know the character better. And plus the producers have confirmed the final cylon IS aboard the ship itself.

Forget what Moore is telling the fans. The final cylon has to be a shocker. It cant be a minor character or it will be a major anti-climax. The more I watch, the more I am convinced that the final cylon is President Roslin. My reasons: 1. D'Anna was shocked when she saw the fifth cylon (ruling out minor characters). 2. Roslin has been programmed to be the most human of them all and the cancer will be explained somehow. When she dies (in a tearjerker) midway during the series, expect her to re-emerge the next week as leader/major character of the cylons! 3. Was it not a major co-incidence that Roslin became President when she was so far away from the position (expect us to be shown in flashback, cylons quietly murdering people above her in the pecking order during the escape from Caprica). 4. The obvious reason...the similar visions with six and sharon about the opera house. 5. She is so quick to terminate cylons because she fears they will recognise her and ruin her mission (in reality she is just sending them back to the base stars) I can think of many more reasons, and yes a lot of what I have said sounds silly, but wouldn't it be great to see Roslin commanding the base stars to destroy Galactica in the final episode!!

It'a a fun article...but it's ultimately wrong. Sorry. :) Ronald Moore already confirmed it's none of the above when he said the final Cylon was not shown in the "Last Supper" photo. All four of these characters were. Meanwhile, you've overlooked the obvious and more viable candidates who were NOT in the "Last Supper" photo: Dee, Felix, Romo Lamkin, Admiral Cain and Zak. Given that the four Cylons that have been revealed were all in support positions, it's far more likely to have been these characters. The entire point of the article is lost if you only discuss characters who have already been ruled out by Ronald Moore as being possible candidates. (No offense meant.)

You're picking the "all too obvious." My theories: Callie (I believe that the final five are more evolved and have solved the riddle of having to have a human to get pregnant---why else throw her out the airlock other than for a plot device and to make Tori look like a B--ch??), Hotdog, Racetrack (she did find New Caprica)----other possibles include: Seelix, dare I say Zack (he was in the first season as a flashback).... Gotta think a bit more outside of the box on this.

The Website at the End of the Universe has a similar discussion which gives strong arguments that the final Cylon is indeed Starbuck, but also theorizes why the surprise could be that it is actually Lee Adama.

I gather the creator of the above list hasn't heard of the "last supper" photograph. Ron Moore stated that none of the characters feature in the photo are the final Cylon, and guess what?
