
The actress, who played FBI Special Agent Dana Scully, said she would not have made an effort to see the show had she not been a member of the cast.
She told ShockTillYouDrop: "It has never really been my cup of tea. I'm not really a television watcher. I don't think I would have watched the show [were I not in it]."
But she added: "I see what it is and I can appreciate its appeal to people. I can justify it in the context of my life."
Anderson and co-star David Duchovny have reunited with creator Chris Carter for the second big-screen spinoff of the series, which ran from 1993 to 2002.
The movie is scheduled for release on July 25, almost ten years after the first film.
