Meaney, currently starring in controversial comedy Three And Out, told Digital Spy: "We shot the pilot, but because of the writers' strike everything went into the doldrums. The network had some notes for some reshoots I believe, and they're debating whether they should be done - and then they'll make a decision on whether to pick it up or not."
The Irish actor, best known for his role as Chief O'Brien in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, also admitted that he is a fan of the original UK series starring John Simm and Philip Glenister. "I hadn't seen any of them before we did the pilot," he said, "[but] I was here, doing [Three And Out] and I saw the boxset in the video store and I bought it - and became addicted to it. It would be 4 o' clock in the morning and I'd be sitting there watching it."
Three And Out is released nationwide on Friday, April 25.
