Picardo joins 'Stargate Atlantis' cast

Robert Picardo will become a regular cast member on Stargate Atlantis, according to reports.

An article in TV Guide states that Picardo will be assuming full time duties for the show's fifth season in his role as Richard Woolsey, which he began playing in Stargate SG-1 in 2004.

Woolsey will take over as Commander of the Atlantis from Samantha Carter, although she will feature in several upcoming episodes as a recurring character. TV Guide also reports that Dr Carson Beckett, played by Paul McGillion, will be brought back for five episodes following protests by fans over his apparent demise.
