I, like some of the other are, am becoming increasingly frustrated with Heroes. Season 1 is one of the best seasons of television I've ever seen. I can forgive them for Season 2, as most shows struggle in their 'sophomore' year and it did start to pick up, but was then cut short by the writers strike. But Season 3 has just been a complete disappointment. Some people seem to like the constant revelations, but this series has just been ridicuous. People are bad, then they're good, then they're bad, then they're a Petrelli, then they're good. Oh, and don't worry about, dying - we'll just bring you back in the next episode without a scrath. What's going on?!?!? I believe that this Volume, we should have been as promised - introducing the Villans from Level 5, most of which we've seen very little of, which that producers were touting around before the Season started. All the heroes would need to come together to bring them under control. MAJOR SPOLIER!!!! Then, as has been alluded to by Greg 'Parkman' Grunberg, the next Volume should be fugatives - the heroes are forced to go on the run, as the government are out to get them after seeing the acts committed by those who escaped Level 5 in the previous Volume. Then, come Series 4 - by which point I believe we would be on Voume 5 - we could have the heroes questioning whether they should be using their powers for good or bad, after having society turn on them in the previous Volume. But this is just all over the place. I don't feel the show is going any where, and I'm extremely disappointed as a result. And finally...a distinct lack of HRG!!!

I like this season and really don't get the bad press. I just think that alot of Americans and our networks expet thing to go faster and easier and when those don't happen they complain.

I absolutely agree with the US. Season 3 is getting ridiculously boring week after week lately, since Arthur Petrelli appeared on our screens. Is that some sort of coincidence? Season 3 has proved it is bad because they fired two of show's biggest writers so that is saying something. Season Two was much better than Season Three, I dont know what everyone's problem is - I mean, Season Two had better ratings than Season Three for pete's sake!!! The storylines are now getting so unrealistic and ridiculous than ever, Season One was more realistic with the Heroes carrying on with their day-to-day lives and working their powers, it was just perfect. Season two introduced the greatest characters, it was a little slow at first but the last five episodes of Season Two were absolutely exciting. Season Three is a flop, they've gotten rid off everyone from Season 2 and some were the greatest characters on the show, the main characters are becoming annoying by the second........wheres the realistic creative dramatic storyliness!??!! They need to ressurrect characters because I think that's why the US are really criticising this series, dont get rid of good characters!!

I don't think heroes has lost its power. but i can understand what they are moaning at. Maybe there should be an episode where theres fights, like merdith using flamethrower vs Elle's electricty or even maybe matt parkman using his telepathy vs arthur's powers. How the hell did arthur get telepathy in the first place anyway?! Why didn't bob just make pure gold out of everything and eveyrone can be rich and live happily ever after

Struggling? More like spectacular! The character development has been fantastic (Sylar, anyone?) and the effects continue to impress. This whole Petrelli arc is fascinating and for anyone who prefers a bit of cerebral stimulation to mindless non-stop action-oriented stuff, Heroes is just the ticket! Long may it continue!

I think Heroes has become quite dull. The plot has become secondary and there is far too much going on and far too many characters. I am becoming fatigued by the programme.

I've never understood the complaints this show has had. I loved it from the beginning and love it now. This is one show that I hate to miss!

Heroes getting flack from the critics? It seems not so long ago that fans of this show used LOST as an example of why Heroes was so amazing. Its nice to see that once the dust has settled and the sheer mediocrity of Heroes has become apparent- biggest problem for me is (and has always been) the cast- they are terrible. LOST has done the better job of keeping the mysteries fresh and above all having an excellent cast to carry it. Heroes time in the sun is probably over for good.

it is loosing momentum even on its second wind my mum and friends watch it i have nothing against the show it looks good and gets good write ups but going into what is it now 2nd or 3rd series its just running out seems to me to be rushed as soon as this writers strike ended alot of shows came back on air alot of them hurried out. besides i watched the odd one now and then and couldnt follow what was going on lol.

I have to say that i think Heroes is fantastic this season although going on the forums many people disagree or are they just the ones that shout the loudest. I hope Heroes keeps going from strength to strength.

This third series is woeful. Too many new characters and not enough ideas for the old ones. Too much back and forth mullarkey for my liking and like another person said, once someone is dead, they crop up again next week. Where is Mica and his Aunt ? I thought season two was pretty good, season 1 was superb but I have now decided stop watching S3. I think the writers are just winging it from week to week. The same thing happened to 'Lost' in S3 but they managed to get back on track. Unfortunately, I have decided that enough is enough for me. "No More Heroes Anymore"

Heroes is brilliant this season. It's just that Americans have no taste. The only slight problem i have with the season is the amount of retcon-ing that goes on. But this is to be expected in a comic-ish tv show.

This season is fantastic and episode 8 has tied up a lot of loose ends.

Don't agree one bit with that article - Heroes deserves all the criticism levelled at it because it's turned from the exciting, fresh, innovative show it was in S1 into nothing short of an overblown mess since the end of that season. Characters are just plot pieces to be moved around where needed, storylines pummel too fast for us to take stock and care for the characters within it, plotlines repeat (yet ANOTHER blown-up city), certain characters have either been decimated (Mohinder), underused (Nathan) or irritate where they once were loved (Hiro). The blame isn't with the actors - they're not the most talented (Pasdar, Rose & Coleman aside), but they do the best with poor material. It's not with the production team, who make the show look good consistently. No, the blame lies with Tim Kring - who clearly has had no idea how to develop Heroes after it's first season. After the tedious 'Villains', I've given up watching. It does have one or two things going for it and the potential of the idea is enormous, but when you compare this to Lost or Supernatural (arguably the two best genre shows out there right now), Heroes doesn't even compare.

Heroes is struggling. I no longer watch the show because it isn't interesting and certain characters from season 2 no longer appear with no reason why. The whole nikki turning into tracey is a storyline i didn't like at all. The show is a one season wonder. You can't beat a season like the first
Paul, Durham on November 16th, 2008
I despair at the way the US media and viewers has turned aganist the series. I actually liked the last season - Tim Kring's failure to stick to his guns with various storylines in favour of more action has actually left me feeling let down. What happened to Peter's girlfriend in the future? What about the family in New Orleans? However, I am still enjoying the series and am pleased that the BBC is showing it at near US pace.

The Americans are right. Season 3 is poor. Not as soporific as Season 2 but the flaws that became obvious in the latter part of Season 1 are threatening to overwhelm the show. The problem with focusing on so many disparate stories and rushing from plot point to plot point is that no one has a satisfying character arc. Secondly, no one bar HRG and Angela Petrelli seems to be able to act and the godawful dialogue is not helping. Thirdly, haven't we seen these stories before. Preventing the end of the world? Painting the future? Fourthly, the characters are in a rut - Claire's still whininig, Hiro's shtick is worn out, Peter's still gurning, Parkman is as ever clueless, Nikki or whatever they're calling her is still just as boring. Mohinder's story is a ridiculous, poorly acted Fly ripoff. And that pretentious voiceover needs to stop. Fourthly does no-one stay dead? And lastly stop neutering Sylar. Lastly stop making up stuff as you go along. Sylar is a Petrelli! HRG and Sylar teaming up!!! Please. Shame. Great premise this show though.

Heroes is boring. How can sylar become good he is a monster. heroes is CRAP! Once was a great show. Now its copping other shows.

"The subversion thrown up in this season, with Claire being depicted as a villainess and Sylar as a hero at various stages, may prove unsettling for viewers who aren't a fan of such ambiguity." Here's my problem: I love this kind of subversion and ambiguity IN THEORY. The way it's actually being done IN PRACTICE feels very rushed and cheap. There is a fine line between "subverting" expectations for your character, and simply throwing all continuity out the window and running roughshod over what you've already established. Unfortunately for me, "Heroes" has done the latter more than the former. I really wanted to like Sylar, Claire and Mohinder's storylines this season, but... I don't. But what do I know - I'm one of those disgruntled Americans :)

are you kidding i LOVED heroes, and now i cant bear to watch the 3rd series its just a bore now, i get frustrated when i cant pause it lol, series 2 was the best for me
Daniel Erskine on November 16th, 2008
I used to love this show and stuck up for it in season 2 but now it cant even keep my attention and have decided to wait for the boxset... it just seems like the same all the time even when they are doing differnet things and i find myself not caring about any of the characters anymore its just like if your going to die just freaking die!
Laura, Scotland on November 16th, 2008
I just can't believe they killed off Adam. :( Also, a lot of characters have subtly changed for the worse, IMO. Peter just annoys me now- I don't think he's smiled once. Claire too is annoying- she now share's Peter's seriousness, and MUST-SAVE-THE-WORLD! attitude. The Mohinder Goldblum storyline seems horribly inconsistent to his character, and I think it's just being used as an excuse to mix up our perceptions of good and evil. Which WOULD have been a good idea, if it had been done right. What kind of scientist would quickly knock up a DNA-altering serum and soon after inject it into his own arm?? But despite all that, I'm still enjoying it. It's still one of the best things on TV- it's just not as good as it once was.

I personally think that Heroes started out well, but it's Robert Forster's acting which is bugging me. It seems to me that Arthur Petrelli should have a major presence in every sense, but whenever he speaks he loses all scariness for me. His voice just doesn't go, and it's that sad fact that makes the whole character not work for me. Here's hoping for a quick (yet not rushed) resolution to this plot and get back to some good storylines! More Elle for a start would be nice, as would more Matt.

This is the first series which I have really enjoyed- me not liking any of the characters is still a problem but a fantastic plot and the wonderfully ambiguous Sylar are making up for that.

You gotta set up to pay off. I for one am thoroughly enjoying the show.

Heroes lost its power with season one's finale. the battle between peter, sylar, nikki and hiro was weak. This show has long been off my tv shedule
Chris, Glasgow on November 16th, 2008
"The intricately structured trips to the past and future may prove frustrating for some of the attention-lacking masses" - OR they've become another tired gimmick by this point. I don't think blaming the audience is fair on that point.
Scott Wilson, Belfast on November 16th, 2008
The show is terrible now, if it wasnt for 24 and Lost TV would be unwatchable with this kinda crap.
Tyzone Young, Bedfordshire on November 16th, 2008
There is no way that Heroes is struggling. This season is possibly better than it has ever been. Those american critics are just writing anything to seem like they take no prisoners. Just look at what they did to Firefly. They didn't give it a chance and right now, it seems Heroes isn't getting a chance either.
Steven, London on November 16th, 2008
Absolutely not! The second season was a complete and utter turkey, but that was the same for all of the cut-short seasons due to the writers strike! I think this series has been very good so far, perhaps not as many twists as the first series, but enough to keep the viewer hooked!
Docman, London on November 16th, 2008
I think I agree with much of what you say but I do believe that overall, Heroes has lost its way. It’s still a highly entertaining show but it’s kind of become a jumble of moments rather than a flowing narrative. It’s disorientating and there is no single character leading us through the narrative in the way Peter did in Season 1. Fundamentally, the show seems to have lost its identity. Shows like Dr Who, BSG and even the risible Charmed maintain their audience because however they change and however their quality varies they retain their core identity. Heroes still delivers quality and consistently produced episodes each week but has in its desire to move more quickly has become a flickering series of powerful vignettes that for all their brilliance feel disconnected with each other and therefore disposable.
Basil, Middlewich, Cheshire on November 16th, 2008
Hearing that the show is getting heavily criticised in the US led me to think "are the critics watching the same show as me?" This 3rd series has been brilliant week after week. The Puppet Master character was particularly creepy and the twists and turns with the established characters just get better and better. Top quality stuff!
Sam, London on November 16th, 2008
I think this season is back to its best like season 1 with all the gripping turns in the story and great cliffhangers, the way they are going into the future and last week back to the past showing the back story to the first few episodes was fantastic.

i just started watching heroes in season 3 so if it still has the power to gain new fans how can it be getting worse? ive went back and watched the previous 2 seasons and in my opinion the 3rd is the best instalment yet and i hope theres much more to come !
Forrest Leith on November 16th, 2008
Seies one was totally brilliant and fresh. Series 2 was diabolically bad with some of the worst script ever! Series three... OMG... a masterclass of sci-fi that has me gripped to the very edge of my seat every week! Just run with it ... brilliant, brillaint, brilliant, entertainment at it's very best! Forrest
Ian, London on November 16th, 2008
No, I don't believe Heroes is losing it's power. I think this season has been just as gripping, if not more so, than the 1st and latter half of the second. I was worried about how they were going to get through another season with Sylar as bad guy and a world ending scenario but I fell bad for having doubted. I love the way they turned the show on it's head with baddies becoming good and vice versa. I believe it's the US audience's lousy attenion span (the one that has been resposible for the early demise of many a great show). I just hope Heroes can pull back some of the viewers it's lost to ensure the show gets its full run.
