Put a fork in them. Heroes is done. The teaser for s4e3 has got Gretchen kissing Claire. Kiss this show goodbye. Goodbye.

No Mohinder! My favourite character... Have they got it in for the non white characters because they sure are dropping like flies in this show. Haven't seen it yet, but heard a lot about it. I tend to feel if we had a lot less Sylar and more continuity (rather than remaking history like the damn Elle/Sylar thing we had to sit through that completely screwed with the Chanda Suresh storyline) along with using the actors they seem happy to just drop off - I mean, what happened to Molly? - the story would be far more interesting. Oh, and use Mohinder more - for a start he's a total pleasure to look at and also his search for the truth to his father's death started the whole damn story in the beginning - not than anyone at TPTB seem to give a damn any more.

To those who hate Heroes. I fail to understand why there is so much hatred of this show! I love it, and yes at times the storylines are bonkers, but there also seems an energy and enthusiasm to it, and the cast is excellent. Negative remarks like this will cause such a show to get cancelled. Maybe that's your aim.

NO way, Heroes is the best show of its time and should keep going for as long as possible, as long as its fans are behind it then there's no reason to stop. I loved every single season and all the twists and turns

I've always seen Heroes as a poor man's Lost. I quickly lost interest during the second series and haven't watched any of it since. The ability to bring dead characters back to life completely killed any drama and tension the show had and the plot seems to be made up on the spot with no overall grand design.

Heroes had its day long ago. The first series was amazing but it went downhill very fast after that. I thought series 2 was bad because of the writers strike so I gave it another chance, but series 3 turned out to be even worse. It just went round in circles. The writers don`t seem to know where they are going with the storylines. I for one will not be watching series 4. It should have ended after series 1 then we could all remember it as being one of the best shows ever!

I'm not sure why the lack of an action heavy is a bad thing. I disliked the way the writers handled the start of season 3 and much prefer the way they've gone with this year's opener. The slow burn approach is much better and one of the reasons that season 1 worked so well. Some of the elements are still off e.g. Hiro and Ando's storyline but most of it was good. The fact that the device of Sylar in Matt's storyline has been used in the other shows doesn't matter if executed well and it is especially in episode 3.

No way!!! Heroes is one of the BEST Shows on TV right now and i love it!!! After Season 4 i really hope they get a Season 5 as i never want it to end i love it that much!! The best characters are Hiro, Ando, Claire & Peter. A great show!!! xxx

Absolutely no way will this get another season..surely not?

The 2 hour premiere was a bit of a drag, and I actually felt more sorry for the minor characters who were in the scenes with Matt and Sylar than the two themselves. (Possible spoilers in next paragraph!) However, I must say the episode after this, 'Ink', was better in my opinion. Although most part of the show was not too exciting, one of the storylines was touching. It brought a character with an actual problem who's ability helped, rather than a moaning person who doesn't want their ability. And the CGI for that ability were stunning. I would say, don't give up until you have at least seen the 'Ink' episode.

Completely disagree. At least Hiro's got a proper quest back this series. Also, Heroes is a drama with superpowers... it's not meant to be particularly fast paced... or a least not as fast as the reviewer here wants it to be. Yes, I would like to see powers used more often and to a greater effect, but that's not Heroes. What the reviewers wants is essentially X-Men: The Last Stand, Heroes style. I personally believe that this is the best start since Season 1... which if I remember rightly didn't start fast either. Odd that really...

Tony from Sheffield - in what way is "jumping the shark" and Americanism. It's a fairly common phrase, which comes from the worldwide hit TV show 'Happy Days' (the episode where The Fonz jumps the shark). I don't see why the phrase can't be used in the UK - I don't know anyone who is interested in cult/high-quality TV who doesn't understand the term

I think it's unfair to judge it by the first two episodes, they are just getting into the storylines of the season and we need to wait for it all to unravel before we can judge it. Personally I'm intrigued by the new villain (Robert Knepper), I think it'll be good to see how he is different to the villains we saw in Sylar, Adam and Arthur Petrelli for example. I love Sylar's character in this season so far too, the whole conflict with Matt's character is great and I want to see what happens there! Only 3 episodes in and it's getting better don't judge a show by it's season premiere.

A resounding yes! Think the problem with Heroes is the writer don't seem to have an end in sight. It would have worked better as a 20 part series or something, so that there was a beginning, middle and end with decent, concise writing. As it is, they're clearly writing round in circles to keep the show going until it gets cancelled. Look how much Lost has improved since they set a final episode date, now that they're working to 'the point' if you like, the series has improved massively. As Rob says, flogging a dead horse!

When is it going to be on the BBC?
Rob Beard, Torquay on September 29th, 2009
After watching the first two episodes of this new season I thought it was just me and that the season was just slow to start. I guess I was wrong. I really do hope things improve but I'm starting to think that maybe now they're flogging a dead horse. It's a shame really as I have been a big fan of Heroes. Comparing the season premiere of Heroes to say, Flash Forward, I'd say I'd rather go out of my way to watch Flash Forward than Heroes. Rob

Nope. 4.1/2 was excellent. Heroes only suffers from not being suited to casual viewing. The series grows and changes direction with each chapter. Its a comic book series and shouldn't be treated as anything other than that since it has never pretended to be anything other than that. Looking forward to the rest of Season 4

I hope not, it sounds like the show can only get better. (fingers crossed)

I will start this comment by saying I was a hardcore fan of Heroes, I loved Season 1 and Season 2, I went to conventions for the show, I defended it to people. I even sat through the whole of S3....then the finale happened and it clicked....I was lying to myself thinking this show was still amazing, it wasn't even subpar it is just awful. It retcons characters, it brings in new characters that people like (Monica, Adam, Daphne) and preceeds to kill them off or write them off. Its racist..the regular cast has gone from 6 out of 13 characters being ethic to just 2 now (because Mohinder has been forced out to appear only as a convienet plot device for other characters). If you aren't a Petrelli or Sylar they don't expect a plotline or if your unfortunate to be Matt...expect to be turned into a dull pointless character. If your Hiro/Ando then your only good enough to be comic relief. This show needed a endgame like Lost, BSG and SPN had but Tim Kring just doesn't care, really watch interviews with him this is not a man fighting for his show like Whedon Moore or Kripke would, he is just happy to watch as it becomes more embarrassing each week and we can all hope for cancellation so the actors can be free.

I think that you aren't giving the show chance to flesh out it's storylines. I felt that they weren't revealing all too soon. As you pointed out, series 2 and 3 had bigger and louder opening episodes, but the rest of the series fell apart after them. Compare that with series 1, where it gradually built up over the first half of the series. The only problem was more to do with the cast. With a show like heroes, it could pretty much reinvent itself each series with a new cast and fresh ideas. Instead they keep most of the main characters till they become stale. The best characters for me are the ones that have been killed off - Eden, Elle, Candice and Isaac. Hopefully this season they spend less time on the old, and more time on the new.

Redemption was excellent compared to last season. I like Matt, but am completely sick of Sylar. Quinto should have been recurring as the villain for S1 (when he was fantastic) and that should have been the end of his character. Trying to find things for him to do for four years? Mistake.
Tony, Sheffield on September 28th, 2009
Why do some of the DS staff insist on using Americanisms all the time. Here the latest one, "jump the shark" is used in a situation where it is quite unnecessary. Surely they are skilled enough to write articles without resorting to such things. There are plenty of American websites to read the same content presented in an American way. DS is a british site. Have the wit and skill to keep the presentation British. No point existing otherwise.

Couldn't agree more, Matt Parkman's an incredibly dull character - and I'd imagine it's more of a torturous experience for Sylar to be inside his head than it is for Matt.
Richard, London on September 28th, 2009
I'm going to give my beloved show a chance. However, deep down in my heart, I fear the show jumped shark-wards at least a season ago. Bring back Brian Fuller and get things back on track please!!

NO heroes has NOT had its time, and i thought the premiere fo "redemption" was brilliant and cant wait for the rest of the volume!!!!!!!!

Liked the first series - new, innovative, fresh. Started to get bored with series 2, very slow start and basically just a gore-fest. Watched a few early episodes of series 3, came to the conclusion it was going nowhere (still just a gore-fest) and gave up. Won't bother with series 4 unless it gets some extremely good reviews.
Ryan from Boston on September 28th, 2009
It nearly breaks my heart, but I *completely* agree. Heroes needs to die. It cannot be brought back. The first season was just epic, but its been on triage ever since (story wise) and this year's first episode will be the last I watch of it.
john, bangor on September 28th, 2009
personally i think you do redemption a disserivce in your review. For me heroes seaon 3 episode one + two was awesome had all the right bits and bobs and really seemed to be back on form. If you want Heroes to get better then at least give it a chance instead of writing reviews like this to put it off, publish your reviews after its aired in the uk so people will have their own mind made up instead of just going off what you've said! shame on you Digital Spy i had a higher opinion of you a day ago then i do now after reading this review

i kinda expected this, heroes seems to have fallen a little flat ever since the end of its 2nd season. after the travisty that was "villians" and "fugitives" ive since given it a wide birth. i wont be watching it when it comes back and instead be watching shows that have maintained consistancy like lost, house or supernatural.
