To those that don't understand all of the events of Season 5 - you've missed something or weren't paying enough attention. Visit www.lostpedia.com to see what you're missing. Plenty was explained or at least hinted at for intelligent viewers to fill in the gaps. For me this series really delivered. Some of the best writing since the 1st and 2nd seasons. I've been a huge fan throughout and can't wait for the final series.

Hang on your saying they have been rescued James. Then why's the show still going on, and why's it still called Lost what's that all about.
James, London on May 29th, 2009
I thought it was the second best season yet. Season 4 being my favourite. And why are people here saying 4 years and they still haven't been rescued? The got off ages ago.

Hugo, you say it's rubbish yet you still watch it. You say you don't know why it hasn't been axed, well viewing figures, you being one of the viewers. If people that didn't like it stopped watching it, then viewing would go down and it would be axed. It's not like your forced to watch it, there's other channels and an off button and other things to do then watch tv. You don't know why many watch the show, that's one reason it's still going as people watch it. Saying you don't know why people watch it when you watch it, is a bit hypocritical. Was just going to post then saw you've posted another comment. You say you don't watch it, well that's strange as you say the show is rubbish, how would you know unless you watch it, and you've anaylised every episode so obviously do watch it. If you don't watch it, you can't say it's over rated. You say you want it axed, and it would be long over due when it ends. Well seeing as you now claim you don't watch it, how can it, and why does it bother you if it's axed. If you don't watch it anyway, then it won't bother you if it's on will it as you don't watch it anyway, so therefore it is in effect axed for you as you don't watch it. If you do watch it, then just stop watching it if you find it so bad, then it will be like it's been axed anyway. There's 200 other channels you can watch, watch one of them. The world does not revolve around you, so why do you expect every single tv channel to shiow something you like.

best ever roll on 2010 - only show i have watched from episode 1 and stuck with it. absolutely amazing writing and compulsive viewing. so many things to mention from the finale where do you start.....
Hugo on May 27th, 2009
paul from london I don't watch it, and you say it's class but don't give examples. You just think it's class. But it's not it's just over rated. It will be long over due next year when the show is laid to rest.
Harold on May 26th, 2009
OMG I don't have Sky so lost track after Channel 4 lost it. Didn't realise it's been five years now. 5 years and they still have not been rescued, what's that all about.

I just didn't like this season, and I thought the finale was actually the weakest yet, even more than S1. I thought there was barely anything answered this year, certainly anything substantial, bar Danielle and Alex, and there are far too many questions still hanging with only 17 eps left; there's now no way everything can get answered. Charlotte shouldn't have been killed off so quickly, and Daniel shouldn't have been killed off at all. 2 and a half stars, but still awaiting S6 to see if the show rebounds and to see how many questions they do actually answer! :p

Re: Hugo's comments. Interesting that you say the show is rubbish and that there's not been one decent episode. So let me get this right you don't like it but you've watched every episode? I mean you must of done in order to make that statement. The show is pure class - end of.

I'm sorry - the love quadrangle as part of "the good"??? Not for me, an excellent season, but not one part of me is interested in whether |Kate ends up with Sawyer or Jack!
Katherine on May 24th, 2009
I always feel childish when people say only fangirls care about the love triangle. Not true! In fact, the time travel, I REALLY don't care about. I watched Lost int he first place because it was all about the character's relationships with eachother and themselves. Its still why I watch it. I'm certainly hoping for a Sawyer/Kate endgame. Juliet was so cool though, but a nice way for her to die being the hero and everything. The Locke/notLocke/Islocke thing, just confused me I'm afraid.

OMG I loveeed it, it was so like :O! We found out so many things and at the same time so many questions were raised and and now i'm coming up with all these theories like at the end of last season. One thing I hateeee though is that I have to wait another 8 months! I wish I could watch it all now, but then the only problem would be that it would be finished :( I think it was one of the best seasons definately a great ending in the least
Hugo on May 24th, 2009
Pity it wasn't the final ever, the show is rubbish and there's not been one decent episode. I don't know why people like it, it's over rated. It should have been axed long ago, and I don't know why it's still going. I don't get how so many people can watch the show.

OMG! This is still going and will continue next year. I ws shocked when I heard it took them 4 years to break out of prison in prison break, but this show is going into the sixth year. 6 years and they've still not been rescused from the island. Your in high school less time then that. Pity the guy in 24 wasn't in prison on prison break, or in the plane crash on this. He'd have them break out of prison is one episode, and have the people on this show rescued after one day, instead of six years. Then that would make the shows only last two episodes between them, rather then a decade, and won't make the makers millions. Next idea. Stuck in a lift. A show where someone gets stuck in a lift, and it takes them ten years, to press the emergency button, or find the phone to call for help.

I think Ben you have entirely missed the point of Juliet's change in heart, in choosing to set off the bomb. She has clearly realised (along with everyone else) that the detonation of the H-bomb IS the incident, and thus she could choose not to explode the bomb, and be alive in 2007 but never have met Sawyer. Or explode the bomb, and in doing so, kill herself so as to ensure the correct course of events and have had the happy memories she enjoyed with Sawyer.

I am so confused because Kate should be with Sawyer but jack should be with kate! aaaaah! i was so angry when sawyer and juliet were together though! i cant wait till the last season!
Daniel Erskine on May 24th, 2009
I actually think that was the best ending they ave ever done for a season finale... Juliet being the hero! It was amazing, this is certanly the best season of the show.. and imo blows the overrated season 4 out of the water!

I guess I must be one of few fans that don't actually give a crap about the whole Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Juliet rubbish. It played a big part in an otherwise superb final that mostly served as an annoyance and distraction to the main plot. Who cares whos banging who when there are still thousands of questions to be answered? I hope to God season 6 dosen't dwell too much on this, but its going to. All in all a superb season. I agree completly with the good and bad (apart from the above). Jacob's introduction was a nice touch and I liked how we had answers from all areas of mystery (more on the smoke monster, why Ben and Charles don't get on, what happened to Rosseau and of course what was the Incident?). If there was one thing that wasn't too good it was what they did with Desmond... it's like they had no idea what to do with him so barley gave him anything to do all season. 7/17 episodes only one of which he got more than one line in. All in all season 6 has a hell of alot of loose ends to tie up. I hope they can do a good job of it. The wait will be very annoying...

I agree with another user. The only fault I can give Lost this season is they spent like 4 episodes in the Dharma Initiative doing Jack-all (excuse the pun). Apart from that this season was really good and the finale was the best since Season 2. However Season 1 still remains the best 24 and a half hours of my life!

the time travelling could have been done in the third season instead of dragging it out to the fifth just to rake in the money from dvd sales etc in over an idea that is too dragged out.

Loved series 5!! Hopefully Juliet is alive.. I don't think that her character has come to an end yet!
RichardAM on May 24th, 2009
There was too much meandering and fluffing, both with the Oceanic 6's return and the time spent with the DHARMA, a storyline with so many possibilities that were completely ignored/forgotten - Ben's friend Annie/ Kelvin / Alvar Hanso etc. The supernatural side with Jacob, the monster, the issue again of free will vs destiny was interesting, as was the time travel early on in the season, and the new characters of Illana, Bram and even Jacob look set to keep the show progressing. Both Charlotte's and Daniel's deaths seemed unnecessary . The love square/rectangle/whatever was horrible as always.

Probably the best season since the 2nd, I'm annoyed yet intrigued by some of the plot points that have yet to be resolved - Lost is a great show in that it entertains you when you are not watching through the speculation you can engage in! Right now I'm anticipating a grim ending with the characters caught in a time loop they can't get out of, no matter how many ways they try to change their fate on the island. I'm certain that the H-bomb detonation is what lead to a lot of the problems people faced on the island in the 2000's - just as Miles suggested. I think Juliet worked that out which is why she agreed to detonate the bomb.

The plot moved, pleasingly, much faster than other seasons. Plus, I do like a WTH moment when it comes to watching Lost, and those came in buckets - including Sayid shooting young Ben, meeting Charles Widmore as an Other and the reintroduction of Ms Hawking, who in a matter of episodes has shifted from being a somewhat random augur-esque character in a Desmond flashback to becoming a character in her own right, and during those scenes of her in the 50s, 70s and 00s we see guilt (over Faraday), belief, dedication and - in an intriguing twist and irony - uncertainty...an excellent foreshadowing of Season Six. Michael Emerson's portrayal of Benjamin Linus never wears out on me - 4 seasons after his ambigious introduction, we still dont know whether he's being "the good guy" or "the bad guy", and the scene which B R-J mentions in which he talks Locke out of suicide and kills him himself seconds later is a testament to this. I like to think he is "the good guy" doing "bad" things for "good" reasons, but that perspective has skewed over the past season. The 'love square' in this season was handled much more elegantly than the 'love triangle' in season 3, I think. Juliet's apparent demise in the final scenes was truly heart-string tugging, since this is a character who we weren't too sure about when we first met her but by now reckon she's far more trustworthy than any of the other characters. Seeing Sawyer emotional and caring has become the norm, but I feel these scenes helped define the contrast between the Sawyer of today (or 1977..) and the Sawyer we saw make racist accusations against Sayid in the 'Pilot'. In Lost, the finale is a game-changer. It always has been. It shows us things we wouldn't have expected and at first are reluctant to enjoy - since, as B R-J nicely mentioned - there's a lack of clues. The apparent body-snatcher theme that we discover in the last-but-one scenes of 'The Incident' was very, very interesting. The final shot of Juliet rocking that bomb and hurling the audience into a white abyss was frustratingly, amazingly teasing and will no doubt help maximise speculation as to what will happen (or what has ALREADY happened...) next. Janurary 2010, do you mind coming around earlier than planned? We don't really need September, and November will be quite dull I think, we don't need that one. 4 and a half stars :)

this year was a little harder to take in due to time travel (hurley and miles talking about this was great) but still i love the show so i give season five a 4 out of 5 . the next 7 and half months are going to suck waiting for the last season
David, Yorks on May 24th, 2009
The worst part for me was being at Dharma for way too long. All in all it was a great season though! 5 stars
