Wentworth Miller has explained the practical reasons behind the removal of his Prison Break character's tattoo at the start of the fourth season.
"It was a fan favourite the first season," he told the Star Telegram about Michael Scofield's full torso tattoo containing an encrypted map.
"But then Michael escaped - mission accomplished - and suddenly it was just something that had to be borne rather than be something that could be used as a plot device."
Miller explained that the tattoo had a negative effect on him while filming in Dallas for the second and third seasons, saying: "In 100-degree heat, [I was] wearing long-sleeve shirts because we’re still pretending I actually have the thing on."
"I am looking forward to rolling my sleeves up," added the actor, after his request to remove the tattoo during the fourth season was granted by Prison Break's writers.
