i love it its so much more loose than spooks and it keeps you on the edge of your seat you never know whats going to happen next!! its brilliant

Wow, I seem to be the only one enjoying the show. Mainly because I didn't and don't watch Spooks and the cast are closer to my age (18) so I can relate to them. Also, a spy show in the future is a good combination but they haven't gone full futuristic with it. There are some weaknesses (Hannah wasn't acted very well and I'm glad she moves the story along from a dead perspective) but overall I think it's quite good. No Torchwood, the best spin off of anything in years, but no bonekickers either.

i'm half and half due to the fact it has some good acting byt the stories a bit plain but i though it was good. Not the BBC's best work but its somthing to watch

Can you imagine if this was real, terrorists wud have a field day. A bunch of spotty teenagers running around with guns, well its pretty much whats happening in the UK anyways but these kids are suppose to be MI5 and stopping terrorists, seriously lacking in the realism department and the writing is just terrible, no suspense and the love angle keeps trying to be played but again with no guile or intrigue, i just care if one of them gets together with another one because at this rate and with the writing the way it is i can see the finale being just a massive sex-orgy between all of them and the terrorists joining in.

SPOOKS: THE HOLYOAKS SQUAD eally is amazingly stupid, beyond your wildest dreams. The dialogue just clunks like ***** dropped from a rooftop weighed down with bricks. The cast is mindblowingly unconvincing, like kids in a school production of a spy play one of them wrote. The idea that the safety of the country is entrusted to a bunch of chavs and clubbers is really comedy gold, but it seems that British drama writers and producers have suffered a serious sense of humour by-pass these days.

I only managed to watch about 10-15 minutes before I switched off, absolutely dire - very poor writing. It's classically trying too hard to be young and sexy whilst lacking any imagination or intelligence - audiences of all ages demand far more than that. I was dubious from the trailers but, knowing Spooks, gave it a go - wish I trusted my instinct! I only hope this isn't indicative of where the main Spooks is heading!
Lizz, Newcastle on August 12th, 2008
Spooks is the height of high intellegence, fabulous acting, and (generally) realism. This just seemed like a torchwood gone bad. Just get the vanilla spooks back, and stop wasting the money on 'fillers'!
Scott, UK on August 12th, 2008
It was good a bunch young people set out to defend blighty u go guys haha lol :p
Rachel, Doncaster on August 12th, 2008
I was really looking forward to this show but it was just another version of Hollyoaks. I don't mind hollyoaks but this just did not work on any level. I won't be watching again but can't wait for the real deal to be back on BBC1!!
Mike Lincoln on August 12th, 2008
The bbc wasted over an hur of my life with the first 2 eps, and i want the back! The series is a disgrace to have itself alligned with spooks. Poorly acting and poor writing which was bad enough but it wasnt helped by over used union jack screen wipes. This wasnt so much a drama, more like a really bad ep of hollyoaks late night, during the entire 50mins it just wasnt gripping, it just left you looking towards the clock saying 'it must get beter soon. If anyone with any sense at the beeb actually watched it poor excuse for drama hopefully the axe will fall on spooks:code 9.
Alex - Essex on August 12th, 2008
I have to agree with some of that review as Spooks was weaken slightly in viewing pleasure and I thought Spooks Code 9 would do better but after just 20 minutes I changed the channel.
Jason, Blackpool on August 12th, 2008
I have to echo the comments in thinking Bonekickers was a new low until I saw Ep 1 of this. It was like watching something produced by the Childrens Film Foundation. With swearing. I'm toying with Ep 2 but I'm fairly sure it'll just be 45 mins of my life wasted. Really poor.
Melanie, Guildford on August 12th, 2008
I watched and was dismayed. Everything just seemed like trite rubbish. There was no decent plot, no decent action, and I can't decide if the acting is just bad or if they simply have nothing to work with. Also what's with the annoying and persistent use of the Union flag for scene changes?
Natalie, London on August 12th, 2008
I fell asleep =/ i wasn't particularly impressed at all. Killing off that Hannah girl didn't even make me blink, i barely even paid attention to remember she was part of the group. Don't think i'll catch the rest
James, Aberdeen on August 12th, 2008
I'm shocked at all these comments; I thought it was really good! Sure, some of the acting wasn't exactly the greatest, but the rest of it was pretty good. The whole idea appealed to me, for once it isn't squeaky 12-year-olds 'saving the world' all the time; I don't know whether or not this is a "teenage thing" (I'm 15 - and I know a few of my friends are loving the show, too), but I'm still confused as to how many people disliked it! Personally, I can't wait for next Sunday.
Paul London on August 12th, 2008
I love spooks - and I was really looking forward to Spooks Code 9, however it was total tosh! Will not be watching again!
John, Sunderland on August 12th, 2008
I was away when it 1st aired, so I brought up the iPlayer on my V+ box and set about catching up on the 2 episodes aired. I promptly turned it off after 15mins - it's terrible what a waste of air time and iPlayer listing space. The best bit I saw was the starting credits, bet everybody else who put up with it was relieved with the end credits started.
Rich, London on August 12th, 2008
I'm glad almost everyone on this forum feels the same way I do - hopefully we're representative of the general viewing public and the beeb will axe the show. They need better writers and directors if they want to compete with C4 and shows like Skins.
Scott, London on August 12th, 2008
Absolutely terrible on all levels. Can't believe this got commissioned. It's shows like this that really make me question the value of the license fee. Brings the Spooks brand value down, too!
TeeAyBee, Shetland on August 12th, 2008
The Beeb have blundered. This watering down of the [spooks] brand does nothing for the brand, nothing for entertainment and fails to satisfy on so many levels. The writing is weak with disappointing with 'vocabulary-lite' dialogue and plot lines that are just not believable even after the suspense of disbelief! Change the name to "Code:9" and sell it to the Trouble channel.
Jay Manchester on August 11th, 2008
Can we rename this Code9 and take out the Spooks name which we all care about, the franchise is being ruined
Stuart, Bucks on August 11th, 2008
I thought the BBC couldn't produce anything as bad the "Bonekickers" but this one has managed it. I love spooks as it is well acted and a gritty drama. This appears to be be done on the cheap in a back room with hardly any outside filming. Rubbish acting and characters. The premise was awful, does this mean at most Spooks will have 4 more years left? If it had not been classed as a spin off to Spooks I wouldn't have been as annoyed. Just 6 episodes thank god. Lets hope it's explained as some dream scenario by the real Spooks team!
Naomi, Southampton on August 11th, 2008
Embarrassing! I turned on the TV and within seconds I was cringing, its awful!! Referring to Matthew's post earlier - as an 18 year old Skins lover...... it definitely hasn't pulled me in! This has ruined the old Spooks - there's no proper story line and it's not believable at all - I hope this turns out to be a big flopppppp.
Simon, Hereford on August 11th, 2008
The writers, director and producer of this series need taking round the back of BBC television centre
Charlotte, lancs on August 11th, 2008
The actors seemed to be unable to act. I discovered why. Half the cast were to sound like posh upper classes, despite the fact that they were all from either the north or someplace other then the south. Why is that fiction MI5 agents are alway meant to some private school and speak with recieved pronunciation???????? Oh and get rid of that awful awful awful "vintage" flag that flashes up!!!
Richard, South West on August 11th, 2008
So very poor. Waste of time. Very bad writing, complete lack of intrigue, wooden acting and the characters are totally unbelievable. The whole format of this Code 9 spin off is flawed and should be axed imeadiatly. How did something this bad get passed the BBC executives, surely the must have read the screenplay before commisioning the series? Its was so utterly awful.
Alberto Ferrari on August 11th, 2008
Complete waste of the license payers' money. They should have pumped it into the next season of Spooks to make that brilliant.
cyman, dorset on August 10th, 2008
oh dear oh dear this is so bad. i was hoping for a decent story with some intrigue in just the same way as spooks but from a younger view point but they didnt even come close. brings shame to the "spooks" name. i think they may have got things mixed up and put it on bbc3 instead of cbbc
Dave, St. Albans on August 10th, 2008
Spooks 90210. Awful..what a waste of my time
Sue, Cheltenham on August 10th, 2008
Very poor. Both episodes lacked credibilty and was about as energetic as an asmahtic ant carrying heavy shopping. Shame on the BBC for allowing this to go ahead and tarnishing the 'Spooks' name.
Guy, Esher on August 10th, 2008
I'm glad to see the comments already here as I wondered if I was just becoming an old fart. Utterly lacking in credibility, awful frenetic direction (usually a sign that the makers don't have faith in the script) and an appalling script. I sided with the terrorists - if only the bomb had gone off.
Captain Jean Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise on August 10th, 2008
Spy kids meets Hollyoaks with a dash of Doctor Who's cheesiness. Utter pap but utterly watchable as it has Joanne Foggerty & Georgia Moffet in it. :) Can't wait for the grown-up Spooks to start again.
Ben, London on August 10th, 2008
I really hope that the BBC cancel this varient of Spooks VERY quickly. Bring back the real spooks. Code 9 is laughable, the acting wooden, the writing is awful..what a good use of our license fee.
Vicky, Stroud on August 10th, 2008
Awful, awful awful. Thats almost 2 hours of my life that I will never get back. Hmm, wonder if it's possible to sue the BBC for those lost hours of my life..and what price to put on it?
anon yorkshire on August 10th, 2008
Utterly terrible, unworthy of the [spooks] franchise. No real story, no real believeability, no real plot, no real twists. Bring back Tom Quinn.
Matthew, London on August 10th, 2008
Is it wrong that I was sympathising with the terrorists over Mi5 and the government? If I lived in that society I would trying to take down the security service. Apart from that the writing wasn't brilliant and it really does just seem to be trying to pull in the Skins crowd. Not good.
Soren, Gloucester on August 10th, 2008
Absolute ****! I have to agree with the other comment in regards to it being so false. I found it very hard to believe atall in the story lines let alone the characters. Bring back the proper Spooks asap bbc!
Kathryn, Nottingham on August 10th, 2008
I absolutely agree.... Watched the first 2 as adore Spooks and couldn't wait for the new series, but wish I had waited. This is a cross between the Bill and Grange Hill, but not as convincing as either. The story line is completely linear and lacking imagination, and the acting is no better. I wish they had just called it Code 9 as it completely tarnishes Spooks' reputation.
Mitchell, Surrey on August 10th, 2008
Not entertaining in the slightest, all seems so false with a cast of teenagers. Not a fan, I can't wait till proper Spooks is back.
