Colin Morgan was in Doctor Who I think (to someone who asked where they had seen Merlin before) Every episode of Merlin has been brilliant.

Aoife, he was in the Doctor Who episode 'Midnight', he was GAy John in the Catherine Tate show last year, and he's been in Vernon God Little and A Prayer For My Daughter in London plays. And I think Lancelot can have Gwen. As I've said before, Arthur+Merlin+Relationship=Win:) And why bother with historical accuracy? Does it really matter whether Merlin was able to get into the library? It's tv for kids!!

Sorry only started watching this show brilliantly casted! Im just baffled by the guy whose playing Merlin and where have I seen him before?

Dull episode. Not as dull as The Poisoned Chalice (the fight scenes helped a lost), but close. Still think Merlin-the-character is pretty lacking in depth and interest for a protagonist.

Santiago was so good in this what are you on about? He brought something extra to the show and this had been my favourite episode to date because of him. I admit the flirting with Gwen was uncomfortable but that's because she was miscast and it doesn't work having Guinevere as a girl next door servant. I wish they'd stop using the modern language get a more commanding Guinevere and just work a little harder to make it better. I hope Lancelot will be back.

Personally i think it looked cheap and tacky... Which is a shame really as they could have done so much more with this series....

What a idiotic review, this series has been really good so far, the CGI in this episode was not awful, it was excellent for a TV programme. You people need to get some serious taste!!!

I especially agree with what you said about the modern day language. Fair enough it has to appeal to a 21st century audience, but I find the script congeworthy at times. Maybe it's not so much about the modernity as about just being a poor script. Something else you mentioned was interesting... the whole thing with Merlin in the library. The idea of a lower-class servant just wandering into an archive and being able to use it is against every historical principle. Literacy and communication are such important issues throughout history, to mess around with it just makes the writers look like a pack of jokers. Again I know it's more about entertainment then historical accuracy, but why make yourself just look stupid??

I really enjoyed this episode, as I have with all of them so far! It's just good family fun, with likeable characters.

Another great episode... and the best thing was where we get to see Lancealot knighted and then he gets it taken away from him! I specially liked the Griffin and the way it was killed. I also like that on the website shortly after the episode you are able to see a magic trick performed by Merlin which is cool. Can't wait for the next episode.

Not the best episode but enjoyable and with some nice nods to the true legend. Me and my son enjoyed watching it again as always and are looking forward to the next episode!

God, this reviewer really doesn't like the show does he? Frankly it wasn't as bad as all that. I mean... you can pretty much guess how it'll pan out but I think it's done rather charmingly - and certainly irritates me less than the Robin Hood reworking. It's lightweight silly hokum admittedly, but it seems a bit misguided to expect it to be anything else to be honest and so I enjoy it for what it is.

for sure this was the least enjoyable episode...having said that it was still pretty enjoyable! The scene where lancelot (merlin) kills the hippogriff :P was beautifully directed. Liked it this week didnt love it

Personally, I found Santiago Cabrera’s restrained performance as the charmingly earnest Lancelot a delight to watch and I look forward to seeing more of him in future. It was certainly preferable to the heavy handed bipolar performance by Bradley James - who apparently cant decide whether Arthur will be a hero or a cretin during the set-ups between his long-shots & close-ups. Colin Morgan on the other hand is an absolute revelation. Going from strength to strength each week. I've even grown fond of his god-awful bowl-cut.

The episode was a dsigrace to the myth itself surrounding the fairytale. like in heroes The actor did not deliver .

Got to agree with the review above. The show is indeed dull! The storyline is predictable, the characters are weak, the acting is just awful! This episode just confirmed that Merlin is no longer worth watching.

This episode actually had me more interested and invested than all the previous ones. Perhaps it was the presence of Santiago Cabrera - he's pretty nice to look at! I'm enjoying the series, my family is too - though my little brother did wonder if Harry Potter was going to turn up to fix it last night, cos of the 'hippogriff'!
