Sam Trammell calls for 'True Blood' abuse

True Blood's Sam Trammell has made a plea to the show's writers for his character to suffer more abuse.

The 38-year-old actor, who plays shapeshifting bar owner Sam Merlotte on the HBO series, told Digital Spy that he enjoys the trouble his alter ego gets himself in.

"I had a really good one the first season with the connection to Maryanne and the money, and this past year with my parents - I enjoy being in trouble," he said. "I enjoy the conflict.

"In a way Sam's the sensible eye in the crazy storm of the show. Any kind of bad situation I could be in - I like the bad situations."

He added: "Sam in more trouble - more abuse for Sam, that's what I wish for!"

True Blood returns for its third season in 2010 on HBO in the US. The first season currently airs Wednesdays on Channel 4 in the UK.
