What a treat to see Felicity Kendal again after such a long absence from our small screen on this side of the Pond. Found the Christie and Clue(do) references amusing.

This is 1 of da best plots ive ever seen. It woulve been better if the Vespithingy actually STUNG some1 (anyway how can a wasp hold a led pipe?). Great Cluedo references. Felicity Kendall shouldve played Agatha C. By the way, i used 2 live in Harrogate!(Woo Hoo!)
Dan York on June 9th, 2008
Aw no Jenny in this one. Still it was brill and funny ps my bro fancies agatha christie

As I see most people before me either love or hate this episode. Well, I love it! This one and Blink are my absolute favourites from the New Doctor Who series! I love the comedy and the mystery in this episode, totally brilliant! Donna Noble is the best companion the doctor ever had! I really hope they don't replace her at least for 3 more seasons :) Sci-fi brilliantly mixed with parody and comedy - what more could one want!!! I think this episode deserves a ton of movie awards :)

The fourth series continues to lack depth and emotion. But things can not get any lower than this episode.Possibly the worst in who's history.

I loved this episode but then I am a real Agatha Christie fan. It was light and frothy. Not every episode can be dark with too many sub plots. Aside from this one, I have been disappointed this series. Great!

How could anybody hate this? A FANTASTIC episode as both a Christie and Doctor Who fan. It was the best one of this series and both Tennant and Tate were great in it. The story was a little weak in places but the tone was just right. Perfect saturday evening/ family viewing!

Didnt like the episode at all, thought it was very, very poor!
Aleczandah, London on May 20th, 2008
Probably the worst Doctor Who episode in 45 years. Unfunny, a plot that made no sense, and an overall embarrassment to all involved. If you want a decent Doctor Who murder mystery, watch Black Orchid instead.

Another first!! I do not know how they do it,but this series just keeps getting better and better. What are they on,and can i have some of it?
Mathew Green, London on May 20th, 2008
I agree with all the other '1 star'-ers - it was the worst episode for some time. Felicity Kendal sleeping with a wasp? Whose offspring absorbed Agatha Christie plotlines through a stone in a necklace? Based on characters in Cluedo? At least it allowed the scriptwirters to slip in another mention of the 'disappearing bees' ;)

it was an ok episode ive seen better

Brilliant story although perhaps the kissing was unnecessary
Maria, West Sussex on May 20th, 2008
Excellent episode, a nice break from all the tension of the previous episodes.

so funny, great episode

Badly written script and badly over-acted nonsense! This was a dreadful episode. The production values were slightly lower than usual, the story was dire and the acting was so... so painful to watch. If Dr Who doesn't make a vast improvement with the scripts and storylines then hopefully the powers that be at the BBC will make the present production team at Cardiff buzz..zzz...zzz off too!

Thought it was excellent, david tennant was once again amazing love the cathrine tate "this'll shock you" bit, i think its really good this season how theres no sexual tension.
andrew, cardiff on May 19th, 2008
cant decide, it wasnt like doctor who at all, too murder mystery and not enough sci fi. the giant wasp redeemed it though.
handymelon, East Yorks on May 19th, 2008
I give it "meh". Clever idea, looked beautiful, well-acted - but the directing and the execution of it all seemed messy to me. Tate and Tennant are a fantastic combination and Fenella Woolgar was superb - I would have liked to see a real murder-mystery rather than a spoof, with less comedy and more creepiness - but maybe I'm just a miserable sod!

If I'm being honest, from the start I imagined that Mrs Christie would be played like another Shakespeare, having noticed the lack of a wedding ring on Donna, yet it all seemed to go downhill from there. The Plot was nothing to write home about, with the whole Doctor/Donna being married/ in a relationship getting just a taaad old and the story of a giant wasp impregnating a young woman and she having to keep it a secret failed to get my senses tingling. The references to Agatha Christie's book, of which she hadn't written by that point once again seemed to mirror the Shakespeare code in its likeness and along with the Doctor having to expell the cyanide gave me a few chuckles, but the episode seemed to be lacklustre and my supper became more interesting than the episode at one point. The one thing however, I was truely looking forward to was, as last year, a gathering of clips from the next set of episodes, perhaps even another glimpse of Rose hidden within, yet became excpetionally dissapointed with the decision to only let us have glimpses of the two parter in a fortnight, which I really hope lives up to a better standard than the Unicorn and the wasp did.

Awful. One of the worst Doctor Who stories ever. I cringed with embarrassment from start to finish. The Doctor being poisoned turning into a game of charades??? Oh, please... One of the many points during this episode I nearly turned off. After some great stories, this season has come off the rails with a massive crash.

As a Christie fan I was rubbing my hands in glee when two of my fav things in the world seemed to collaborate. I agree it was a tad bit predictable but there was an air of authenticity about it. It is by far one of the best episodes of the series so far. Though like many people I couldn't help but question WHY do they have to stick an alien in every episode? Why can't the villain be human - that is what I believe the script should have been about. Christie wrote about people who were actually the worst people ever. So I would have perfectly loved it if the murderer wasn't an alien!

I'm an avid collector of Agatha Christie books and adore David Tennant as Dr Who. This for me was the best episode of the series but yet again, it was very nearly spoilt by the over the top "acting" from Catherine Tate. Whilst I find her an excellent comedian, I do get annoyed watching Donna become each and every one of her characters.

Worst episode of the series so far.

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it...... Its great to see this FAMILY programme showing a lighter side. There was something in thee for everybody. I enjoy the wat the story twisted itself around true historical fact, by suggesating that what happened lead up to her actually losing her memory and ending up in harrogate. The period costumes were fantastic (same as the girl in the fireplace) the acters/actresses all played there parts brilliantly and the dialogue was entertaining.

A lovely change of pace after the rather busy preceeding three episodes. Solid characterisation, good direction and lots of natural, warm humour. I liked the Doctor's description of Donna as 'the plucky girl who helps me out'! Some nice nods to the series own history '...you can't tell me Charles Dickens really spent Christmas with Ghosts!', 'Weeelll...'. Good stuff! Doctor Who is perhaps at its most effective in these quieter moments, as some of the more action orientated tales tend to falter in the final act. After a slightly weak run of episodes, the show is starting to pick up steam again. Loved the Christie homages - especially the wibbly wobbly flashback scenes accompanied by strings! Shame we have to have a break for the wretched pantomime that is Eurovision...

I thoroughly enjoyed this! DW shouldn't be afraid to put it's comedy hat on from time to time and this one proved that you can do it with style and cleverness. Tennant and Tate sparred together brilliantly, and the Wasp special effect was excellent. Can't wait for Steven Moffat's episodes, though next weeks story looks interesting; it appears to be set on a planet where people from different nations are having to sing for their very lives. Interesting premise...hmmm!

Absolutely brilliant. Amazingly brilliant. In fact - absolutely bally spiffing, what? Fenella Woolgar absolutely bally spiffing as Agatha Christie - just as all celebrity historical guest stars are. Story and Gareth Roberts both absolutely bally spiffing again, just as in the Shakespeare Code. Best episode so far - perhaps because I am great fan of Christie and her mysteries. Lots of fun - usually I don't like lighter comedy episodes, but this... I loved it. How could even the direst cynic not have the blessed little cockles of his heart with this little delight of an episode?
Bob Sheffield on May 18th, 2008
Doctor Who is all about the Sci-Fi not Agatha Christie or murder mystery. A total let down! I think somebody at the BBC got the scripts mixed up.
Lucy,Sunderland on May 18th, 2008
best episode so far! I was shouting the whole way throught,"It's the butler!" but oh well =-)
Graham, Newcastle Upon Tyne on May 18th, 2008
Fantastic fun. Loads of gags for adults and kids. I slightly disagree with Ben Rawson-Jones on the funniest scene (although I agree it is funny), but I keep laughing about the bit when The Doctor loudly exclaims "Maiden"! This episode was a breath of fresh air, and Donna Noble is fantastic! I think it shows that David Tennant and Catherine Tate work well together as actors too. They seem to relish working with each other.

It was the episode I was looking forward to the most this series, and I was not disappointed at all, great cast, great plot, great everything, best episode of the series yet, and I can't wait for Moffat's brilliant 2-Parter.

one of the worst episodes of new who, good performances by the entire cast but thought they were let down by a rather dire storyline. wanted to turn over when the vicar started buzzing
Tremas Kent on May 18th, 2008
Unfortunately I think this episode shows all that is wrong with New Who, from the stereo typed English to the ridiculous buzzing sound made by the vicar who turned into the giant wasp. David Tennant clowning around reminded me of Sylvester McCoy at his very worst and Catherine Tate yet another waste of airtime, when will this woman learn to act instead of relying on characters from her TV show
Kirsty, London on May 18th, 2008
Really enjoy this weeks episode, fab writing, great characters, lots of fun! Best episode of the series so far!
Megan D, Birmingham on May 18th, 2008
I thought it was a good story, and had brilliant acting. But i perfer Doctor Who being more Sci-Fi and i enjoy seeing the different planets and species. So good story - But felt more like something Agatha Christie had wrote...Whether thats good or bad.. I dont know, im not much a fan of her works.
James Brum on May 18th, 2008
A huge leap from the doctors daughter but brilliant all the same. Donna and the doc tho... they keep saying there not a couple? in every eppy is anyone else thinking wat im thinking?
Rob, Plymouth on May 18th, 2008
That's more like it! Beautiful-looking and superbly written in a way that is utterly accessible but still complex and multi-layered; Gareth Roberts and Graeme Harper are just the best combination of writer and director ‘Doctor Who’ can get! After a bland Sontaran story and the dire 'Doctors Daughter', this is 4th series back at the top of its game!
