It's O-Town, check it out! 'Suddenly Im standing at the door And the steps dont feel like they did before The radios playing loud but its not our song Suddenly Im all alone with her Shes everything that I wish you were You knock four times and pretend Im not at home'
Shanti, Evesham on May 29th, 2009
Either the master with his classic hypnotic beat - or also I thought maybe the creature in Midnight that knocked (we never really knew what happened to that)
Lee Sanderson, Coylton, Ayrshire on May 5th, 2009
The Master "IS" behind the impending knocks. I've just seen the cast list for the Christmas 2009 special and apparently it's a two part special with the second part airing on 1 January 2010 where along with Donna, a second companion will be returning to see the Doctor regenerate for a second time making Sarah Jane the only companion to have been on screen with 6 different incarnations of the Doctor.

I think two things, it could be the master with his hypnotising beat, or Wilf, as he is definitely in the last episodes. Wilf could easily knock on the door of the TARDIS four times!
emily stratford upon avon on April 30th, 2009
master, donna, rose, martha, wilf and JACK
Martyn Glasgow on April 26th, 2009
I think it could be The Rani(Time Lady) who picked up the masters ring at the end of season 3 and helps bring the master back, for another round!!
Rob on April 26th, 2009
It can only be the Master. Of corse this is too ovibous. P,us John Simm was sighted on set.
John Kewn Liverpool on April 26th, 2009
Well.. We all know that Donna, Martha and Rose are all returning this series so that makes 3 knocks on the door but the fourth is a puzzle. Because we know donna's grandfather is backk.. and speculations have rose suggesting he could be the new assistant which looks doubtful.. Michelle Ryan maybe the fourth knock.. but then again it could be Cpt Jack.. Dr Who wouldnt be the same without a bit of Torchwood collaboration, Oh im so puzzled.. Hurry up and air please im getting restless argggg!! David Tennant = <3 Gutted he's leaving x =(
michael leicester on April 25th, 2009
i think it could do with all the compionas returning as 4 knocks 4 compians as u got jack, rose, martha, donna
Amanda northern ireland on April 25th, 2009
I think it's the master. Also they will probally bring back donna, because wilf is coming back, probally to get the doctor to help donna for some reason maybe the master knows about her and kidnapped her, also they left a loose end requarding donna and her perfect man in the library episode, hopefully the dr will get them two together so donna can be happily ever after.

what if... just if there was NO knocking and the whole knocking was to knock us off track? whilst they suprised us with something else? it'd be brilliant if anyone of the doctors enemies, his daughter, the master, or his companions came back, but seriously, to me the " he will knock four times " is too straight forward for it to actually be knocking.

The Weeping Angels from Blink with Rose Tyler, Doctors Daughter and The Master with Sally Sparrow. should all re-appear.
charlotte, london on April 23rd, 2009
when i watched it, i thought that they meant that 'death' would come knocking four times. as in, the Doctor will have four more escapes before he regenerates...never thought it actually meant real knocking!
liam on April 22nd, 2009
isnt there a rumor donna is returning? may be the whole doctor-donna thing aint over yet

Andrew Dott "Which kinda sucks, because in my opinion that character was WAY over-used and totally over-hyped. And too camp and no-scary!" - I beg to differ, I found that just because he was so manic, and plausible I was scared, you caught glimmers of what he could really do in his portrayal of The Master. Of course they'll be the purists who are influenced by that child in them. Which is why the current generation will be saying the same about Russell T Davies and his revival of Dr Who, it had gone mouldy and stale and RTD has transformed it for a new generation. As far as I'm concerned though, they'll only ever be one Doctor for me and he's a Time Lord. He's from the planet Gallifrey in the Constellation of Kasterborous. He's 903 years old and He's the man who is gonna save your lives and all 6 billion people on the planet below. You got a problem with that?

The Master is the obvious choice but i think a darkhorse like Bilis Manger or the Statues from Blink would be great. Also Sally Sparrow should re-appear too !

We all know The Master is back for the finale, along with Martha Jones (who I reckon will be killed off for dramatic effect), plus the actress who played the Doctor's Daughter is a full timer on either Casualty or Holby City now, so doubt she will be back! I would really like The Valeyard to be the person coming through the darkness and knocking four times. The Doctor facing The Master and his evil-future self - how cool would that be??
David Smith, London on April 21st, 2009
My Opinion - The Master will return as will Donna and her family in tow. Lucy Saxon took the ring to resurrect The Master (via methods unknown), so the ring might have been a FOB ring (just in case things went pear-shaped. Althought the 4 knocks seems way to simple to point to The Master - I think The Doctor becomes trapped by the Master. Wilf (who has been confirmed as a companion for the last episodes) attempts to release The Doctor from the trap (4 attempts, hence 4 knocks). Wilf fails - and The Doctor regenerates.

jenny from the doctor's daughter or sally sparrow
Laura, Dundee on April 21st, 2009
I think something will go horrifically wrong with Donna and her mind wipe, she will remember everything, she'll go ga-ga age into an ancient crone, and the Doctor sensing something is amiss will come back and give his current incarnation to save her then regenerate into the wholly unsuitable Matt Smith.
Mike, London on April 21st, 2009
Jeez....What A Bunch of RTD devised oddball Crackpots ! How about A BBC Senior Mandarin turns up "Knocks Four Times".......and AXES the show "while it's Future is being considered..." Now there would be a Deja Vu twist..... Maybe Doctor Who WILL return one day....yes One day...as it has NEVER returned yet...!
Phil Maginn, Doncaster on April 21st, 2009
I reckon it's the master. When he got everyone tapping out his rhythm it is four knocks.
tom st helens on April 20th, 2009
i think it HAS to be that girl from the library because she remembers the dr as he is know and he regenerates soon sow she has to come back in the waters of mars or any time b4 he regenerates
Khansa mirza on April 20th, 2009
i think it is the doctor's daughter, the psychic mentioned a girl flying
Jacques, Düsseldorf on April 20th, 2009
The Master seems to obvious. The question is what it is a he and comes out of darkness? I therefore think it will be an ally we all think is dead. If it were another Monster then the one from planet Midnight would be my candidate.
danny no.1 fan on April 20th, 2009
its obviouslt the master because he can hear drums and in that drum beat there are four beats four times one 2 3 4
Roland, Nantes, France on April 20th, 2009
The midnight creature is qite a good theory, especially if you compare the music between the warning scene in PotD and in banging scene in Midnight, spookily similar. Another possibility, albeit a wild one, could be 'The Beast' from the impossible planet (hence the it/he references); after all the devil exists in many cultures, is immortal inasmuch as it/he serves as a counterpoint to any God entity... Omega may be a good outside bet too...
Stevie, Accrington on April 19th, 2009
I think its either the master or davros and nobody else 4 times the masters blip in the phoners was four blips each time and also someone grabbed that ring of the body even though we didn't see the masters body burn up just a body thats what i think
R.Thomas Leicestershire on April 19th, 2009
What about River Song from the library? The doctors 'significant' other (we can only guess so far)? She has to come back some time soon because she remembers the doctor as he is now, but perhaps older... Yet she recognises him and he must have a story with her before she goes, otherwise there will be gaps in the plot which RTD will not like.
chris, bolton on April 19th, 2009
Its gotta be the Master. The signal given out by the arkangel network was a four beat hypnotic signal. dumdumdumdum, dumdumdumdum. Thats my theory anyway
jay london on April 19th, 2009
ermm y is this even up for debate we all know its the master. i have to say that i dont like john simms master very much at all. i think he is a good actor and would be great in the role if he wasnt so over the top, he just acts like an evil version of DT's doctor. the master isnt meant to be anything like the doctor

It's the Mandragora Helix - mark my words!
Daniel P, Netherlands on April 19th, 2009
I think it's the creature from Midnight, I recently rewatched the episode and it knocked four times, plus the sound effect of the heart beating used in Planet of the Dead whilest Carmen was telling The Doctor "He will knock four times" was exactly the same as Midnight.
Rob, Birmingham on April 19th, 2009
It has to be the Master, but i think it won't just be the Master, it would be great if it was the Time Lords, the final story taking DT back to the time war and somehow regenerating as a result of that
jordan power mansfield on April 19th, 2009
teh master teh rani or omega
David, Widnes on April 19th, 2009
I hope it's the Master. John Simm was excellent, and so hilarious.. He should really be the next Doctor, in my opinion. I'm pretty sure I saw a picture a while ago of Jenny and the Tenth Doctor in an upcoming special, so I reckon she'll be in Waters of Mars..
Catherine, Woking on April 19th, 2009
what i was trying to say is that because jenny (the doctors daughter) recognises david tenant as the doctor it would make more sense to bring her back before daviv tenant regenerates into Matt Smith.
Alex - Essex on April 19th, 2009
I think that the knocking and something from thr darkness gives reference to The Master and Davros but what is for sure is that we will be stunned by what is going to happened when the clues are solved. I can't wait for the next special which is suggested to be released in November.
