We asked Cult Spy readers to name the two Doctor Who monsters worthy of a comeback to the great show. Votes poured in for both Group One and Group Two of the hotly contested rounds, with many fantastic comments along the way. After countless recounts and much toying around with the DS abacus, we can now reveal that the two classic Doctor Who creatures that you want Russell T Davies and his team to bring back are... (cue drum roll)
The Sea Devils and the Yeti!

Cy Bones from Kent put forward a tantalising suggestion as to how they would fare if brought back in an age where dwindling fish stocks is a huge concern: "With the seas being empty, the Sea Devils could rise again seeking revenge for mankind's wasting of the planet's resources. I am sure that some of the more aggressive nations would only see them as an excellent source of Omega 3!"
They narrowly fended off the Zygons, who remain remarkably popular for a monster with just a soiltary appearance in the series. "With their penchant for stinging their victims to death, they make the Slitheen look like the Teletubbies," said Andrew Ford from Surrey. Julian Harrild from France also commented that "their voices were so scary".

The Yeti had a wider margin of vitory in their group, but it was still a very tight battle against the Silurians, who were leading the pack in the early stages of voting. Paul Cunningham from Southampton summed up the opinions of many: "The Yeti are definitely one of those beasts that work well hidden in the dark. How about a Hound of the Baskervilles type story where one of them is roaming the moors creating as much terror as possible?". Now that would be awesome.

The Axons may be lacking popular support with just 7.7% of the vote, but Lee Warman from West Kensington did suggest a rather horrific sounding update to the evil beasts: "With CGI the tentacles that make up the body could be made to writhe in and out of each other!" Ewww!
Many thanks to everyone who voted and to all those who took the time to send in their views.
