I have found all four episodes completely absorbing, and episode 4 in particular, very thought provoking. The perfect blend of monsters, personability and intrigue. Can't wait till tonight!

This is the best story Torchwood has had - like ever. The show had potential at the start, only now we begin to see it, although it looked as if it was getting better in series 2 - this is how Torchwood should be. Fun, thrilling, scary, enjoyable, fast paced and great television for once. I would hate to be a reviewer - takes the fun out of everything.

I been gripped by Torchwood Children of Earth, I cannot wait for tonight's episode, only 2 hours to go :P

Loved it.Just want more and more. Cult editor has lost it.
andrew, cardiff on July 9th, 2009
what you call slow is what i call building tension and it is done brilliantly. it is what you should expect in a week long run so i struggle to see why you can use that as a criticism

Loving the series so far!! BBC back on form making the sort of SciFi it was so good at before it lost the plot. Very Quatermass'ish from the sixty's-seventy's era I think If Torchwood is to carry on it needs more darker stories like this!!
malkyj, birmingham on July 9th, 2009
The episode was good although I found myself wanting to see much more of the scenes involving the government than the Torchwood team. I think this was probably due to Peter Capaldi's very strong performance. In contrast, the reaction of the team to Jacks's "revelation" (clearly signposted from the beginning of the series) did not convince me, I am afraid. It was so muted that there was no real sense of surprise or shock. I though the smelling man would have flipped out more as well. The arrogant attitude of the US general really made my blood boil. How clever of the 456 to mollify him by stating that Britain is just an insignifcant country.
Andrew, Derby on July 9th, 2009
The "Quatermass" style of this is really working for me and the "first contact" is one of the best handled I've seen. Kudos to everyone involved!

Day 3 was brilliant! Who would have predicted the ending?! Cant wait for tonights episode however agree with some comments that it was a bit duller than the last two nights but prehaps you needed the dull episode in the middle to explain the story and whats going on!
Sophie, Bristol on July 9th, 2009
Omg this is the best torchwood series so far by miles!! I really dont agree with most of the reviews on here. Why cant people just enjoy it for what it is which is fantastic scifi :-) aliens, guns, explosions and JB naked, what more do you want?!!
Thom, UK on July 9th, 2009
As much as I am enjoying this series "Day 3" felt very dragged out to me. This could have easily been put into 30mins or just missed out completely. I hope they make up for it in the next two as I really enjoyed ep1, and ep2 even more-so. What was with the 456 farting noises? All a bit to Slitheen for my liking
Diane - Hartlepool on July 9th, 2009
I was sitting in the dark for most of the episode. I had to turn on the light at the end!! Scary! Cant wait for tonight

brian - bradford on July 9th, 2009
Its really going down hill, day one was really good but its slowly becoming boring. i wish it was just a 1 1/2 special now instead of 5 days worth. Oh and the acting is appalling sometimes by 'gwen'
Brendan, Surrey on July 9th, 2009
Charlie Brooker highlighted the unintentional hilarity of getting hundreds of children to stand around saying "We are coming"

This episode felt like filler, and could have been significantly condensed down. Yes, the alien scenes were quite moody, but has anyone ever seen Indipendence Day? Far more chilling, and this was utterly derivative of that. (In ID4, the alien was in a spooky smoke filled room, had tentacles lashing around, and eventually grabbed Brent Spiner and used his vocal chords to speak). Nevertheless, this series is one big story and even the greatest of shows have filler to pad things out (Just look at Heroes and Battlestar Galactica!!) - and I really hope RTD has managed to find a way to end all this wothout launching into a credibility stretching pantomime ending like he always does.

it was great but how many captain jacks will grow from the other remaining bits of body?
Sam, Brighouse on July 9th, 2009
Its a good story but they have done it pover 3 or 4 days instead of five. Can't wait to watch the end though.
Andy, Hull on July 9th, 2009
They really are working on so many different levels at the minute aren't they? The fast paced storyline, the gripping cliff hangers, the characterisation of our main protagonists, the humour "the beans are almost ready", "bloody beans" it just works!! What do the 456 want our kids for? they took 12 back in '65 and came back 34 years later (seems unlikely that they are food really doesn't it?)....just think how long about 25 - 30 billion or so kids are gonna last! Gagging to see the 456 now, I have never eagerly anticipated the next installment of a show quite so much, the week long run is genius, just genius!
Joanne Woodbridge on July 9th, 2009
Is the reviewer Just trying to be controversial just to get people to comment ???? How can you say that was ZZZZZZZZZZZ it makes sense for the aliens not to be revealed in the first couple of episodes its called building the story. I loved it great episode great cliffhanger can't wait for thursdays.

Is this review guy actually watching the right channel? It was incredible! Such a negative guy!

Torchwood tonight and all week has been brilliant. If your used to watching the brilliant work by the creators on both Doctor Who and Torchwood, you will know they are experts will suspense and quality programming. That's what we have seen! An unforgettabley amazing week so far!

I cant help but feel digital spy needs a new cult reviewer, agreed with the fact this was a 4 star episode but i think yesterdays was a five star and he gave it a 3. This > "We are coming". Yawn. "We are coming". Zzzzzz. "We are here". Woohoo! The 456 certainly took their time, didn't they? Those repetitive crowd scenes of possessed children were losing their initial shock value. < If anything this episode slowed down from the good start, then amazing pick-up. Even when i see this Ben dudes reviews of other shows i read it thinking are you watching the same show I am? Atleast thats my opinion lol :P
Katie Lincolnshire on July 9th, 2009
'Absolutely Brilliant' Love Torchood and the story line is brilliant the only thing I would question is the age of when the last 456 came down to earth at first I thought it was 1954 or 1956 and know it has change to 1965. The fashion and the coach for me was more 1954 or 1956.....
Rory Harvey on July 9th, 2009
I loved Episode One, was entertained by Episode Two but found this episode of Torchwood boring and unpredictable. Worst episode ever!
Rob - West Midlands on July 8th, 2009
The "Alien" scene's on floor 13 - were brilliantly done - keeping it hidden and and those sudden jolting flicks at the plexi-glass by "its" what???? and gobs of goo - created a gripping atmosphere - well up there with any TV Sc-Fi of recent years and light years beyond any prev alien encounters on Torchwood or Dr Who come to think of it - just keep out fingers cross the big reveal isn't too much of a crap rubber suited-cgi enhanced - let down lol Yet another stunning cliff-hanging ending - so that is Jack's secret - but why!?!? Can't wait to find THAT out !!! Love the new "hub" ho ho and the burgling scenes were cool and funny - the humour is well balanced - eg "The Beans" stuff and didn't detract from the dramatic stuff - Jack's daughter and son being taken was exciting and led to Jack's downfall as you know he couldn't abduct let alone harm someone's children as a bargaining threat - nice move from Fobisher that ! I found this the best ep so far and hope the quality can be maintained for the final two eps.

One of the most compelling hours of television I have ever seen. I can't belive you didn't rate it 5 stars, you seem intent on under marking this series.

"We are coming". Yawn. "We are coming". Zzzzzz. "We are here". Woohoo! LMAO brilliant, i loved the episode can't wait for Day Four tomorrow hopefully it will be just as good or even better!!!
Alex - Essex on July 8th, 2009
Loved Day 3. I felt fully like I was there with them and it was a very scary episode wondering what is in that gas chamber and the bombshell about Captain Jack being involved but how , fully I suspect will become clear tomorrow (Day 4) in the next episode. Also will we see who 456 actually are and I suspect they will be another bombshell to who they are too.
Oli, Leeds on July 8th, 2009
Squeeeeeee i loved it!! The ending was the best bit so far for me! I cant wait for tomorrow night! :D
