Sutherland responds to '24' criticism

Kiefer Sutherland has admitted that he is horrified to learn that scenes from 24 are being copied by US army officers.

The actor - who plays ruthless Jack Bauer on the hit series - has offered to visit the West Point Military Academy to speak to cadets about interrogation techniques.

Sutherland's comments came after a former interrogator at Abu Ghraib claimed that he had seen mock executions being staged in the Baghdad prison - as seen in an episode of 24.

"It is deeply irresponsible and ludicrous that something like that happened," Kiefer told the Daily Star Sunday. "I'm shocked that anyone - let alone highly trained military personnel - would want to copy anything from what is obviously a fictitious TV show. That's crazy.

"If it takes an actor to go to West Point to help officer cadets differentiate between reality and fantasy, then I'm happy to do that."
