The tennis star and partner Kristina Lenko lost out to Coronation Street actress Zaraah Abrahams in the skate-off, despite scoring their highest marks yet.
The pair managed 20.5 points for their 'props night' routine to Elton John's 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road'.
Judge Jason Gardiner told Rusedski: "Tonight you weren't the most wooden out there, you had a table and a broom. You had fun tonight. It was like a cleaner and a furniture removal man but nevertheless your best score."
Suzanne Shaw earned 24 points for her routine to Barbara Streisand's 'Don't Rain on My Parade', despite fracturing her ankle during rehearsals.
She said: "When I fell I was scared that my ankle was broken and like Michael Underwood, I'd be out of the competition. But the physiotherapist has been amazing.
"I've had several hours of physio since and after resting my ankle overnight I feel much more confident this afternoon."
Hollyoaks star Chris Fountain topped the leader board with 27 points. He will battle it out with Gates, Abrahams and Shaw in the semi-final of the ITV1 show next week.
