Genna, Dundee on March 17th, 2008
Anyone else notice that Chris was totally being pushed out all night, considering the high support he had had all series. ITV did a great job of placing presenters in front of Shaw's supporters when the phone lines were open - it was almost subliminal.....
Izzie, Leeds on March 17th, 2008
Hate her, she did not deserve to win, maybe she was better last nigth but she hasn't been throughout the series. there will masses of complaints as people couldn't get through to vore for chris, massive fix. She has never done anything to get onto the show you can't just win one reality tv show and go onto another, at chris does something. argh she so doesn't deserve this! good luck ofcom with all the complaints you're going to receive!!!
Dave, Wirral on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne & Matt skated sublimely. They deserved the straight 6's that they received. Well done.
A Jackson, Edinburgh on March 17th, 2008
I think Suzanne Shaw's victory was well-deserved. She looked as if she was a professional skater. She made"flying" look so easy. It was magical and so gracefully done. By the way, "Time to Say Goodbye" was sang by Sarah Brightman, not Madonna.
Jack, Manchester on March 17th, 2008
Show is fixed. Phone lines to vote opened BEFORE they even skated in the final
Kerry, Essex on March 17th, 2008
Thought Suzanne truly deserved to win. Her skating last night was outstanding. The usual "fix" comments will be made - it's so boring, just because some don't agree with the result.
Gerri, Darwen on March 17th, 2008
Well done Suzanne. Fabulous performances all night and a well deserved victory. Its just a shame that there are so many people out there who want to knock the girl.
Karen, Poole on March 17th, 2008
No it wasn't - phone lines were fixed. You could get through to Suzannes but not to Chris'. Think the outcome would have been different if Chris supporters actually could have voted.
Jayb on March 17th, 2008
All thru the series, Jason said Chris had an unfair advantage as he had done some ice hockey. What about the dance training Suzanne had done - unfair advantage?
Dave C, Wallasey on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne was fantastic, she has been good throughout the series but the final night really blew the rest of them away including the excellent Chris (a former ice hockey player!) Karen and Holly were not the only ones to be brought to tears by Suzannes breathtakingly beautiful performances in this great final. I admit that my eyes were more than a little misty. WELL DONE SUZANNE!
K on March 17th, 2008
No. They could've given that spin to Zaraah and she would've got the praise! She didn't control it so why make a big fuss over it? Thought Chris did brilliantly and would've deserved it more. She used the sympathy vote FAR too much, and IMO Chris deserved it far more.
Alanna, Dublin on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne was great but for me the real winner was Chris. He has been fantastic since week 1 and im so annoyed I couldn't vote here in Ireland. Im heartbroken he didn't win, its like Gareth Gates coming second in Pop Idol all over again. P.s. Happy St. Patricks Day !!!!!!!!!!!!
Sally, London on March 17th, 2008
I think although Suzanne had a good night, I thought Chris deserved to win, by far he was the better skater, also I think that all the press he had about having an unfair advantage on others because of his Ice hockey days had an effect on the night. No one has said about Suzanne having an unfair advantage because she is a trained dancer, have they?
Doreen, Oxford on March 17th, 2008
People may have found it difficult to vote for Chris, I also found it difficult to vote for Suzanne, so it wasn't all to do with Chris.
nicola ireland, liverpool on March 17th, 2008
what a total fix !!! did no one take into account that "she" was a dancer , that chris had to do all the lifts etc , surely anyone can be lifted and thrown around !!! i noticed to that the presenters were continuously in front of her fans - total con if you ask me chris was the best throughout the series and he should have won !!!
Simon, Plymouth on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne deserved to win last night, whilst you can not take anything away from Chris, last night I felt he was dull and didnt look as passionate as Suzanne
Hazel, Bolton on March 17th, 2008
I really don't think she deserved to win because chris was the true champion and my friends and i couldnt get through to vote for him I think ITV had already decided on the winner Anyway before my eyes chris is and will always be the true champion on the show
Rachel, Kingston on March 17th, 2008
Chris was robbed!!Beyond me how Suzanne won?? I only saw her being lift and spun by her partner. Chris was doing axels and spins - a far better skater and performer overall - the show would have been boring to watch without him
Jan, Southport on March 17th, 2008
Chris should have won,he has been fantastic every week. The judge Jason should not have made comments in the magazines and papers that chris shouldnt win he was well out of order i dont think he should of been allowed to be a judge after that. We had a feeling it would be fixed for suzanne to win. Chris has been a winner all the way through!
Sophie, Essex on March 17th, 2008
In my eyes Chris was the real winner. It was all a big fix, I couldn't get through to vote for Chris on my landline.
JJ, Sussex on March 17th, 2008
No way was here 2nd performance worthing of clean 6's, it was not as tidy or clean as when she first did it. Also tried voting for Chris with no luck. It was almost like the Shaw show last night and I think Chris new what was coming. Ruined what was a great series. ITV should be ashamed.
Niall, Ireland on March 17th, 2008
I dont see what all the fuss is about. She won,get over it.She was a deserving winner.I would not call that a fix.Anyone agree.
Stef on March 17th, 2008
I was expecting chris to win being fav. I was ready to be like 'fix' in the final since they opened the phone lines then who skated first?? CHRIS!! you could then argue oh chris went first so he got more time ... even though both lines were open of course. people always go crazy with these finals no one is ever happy. if chris had one then that would be a fix too im sure. its all so typical british public crying fix for x reason when why can't people accept the best skater on the night won.. suzanne was amazing.
Pia on March 17th, 2008
I was fan of both. Lastnight was the best night for Suzanne. She was better than Chris. It was clean game!!
Laura, London on March 17th, 2008
It was a big fix, chris deserved to win he's been great throughout.
Carol, Surrey on March 17th, 2008
STOP moaning. Suzanne was brill!!! Well done, a deserved win.
Marie, Newcastle on March 17th, 2008
Tried for 30 mins to vote for Chris and couldn't get through once!! He was by far the better performer and skating. His style was so original. Yes Suzanne did do well, but her performances we're no way near as entertaining as Chris and Frankie's throughout the whole series and in the final show. Chris you were robbed!
Gillian, Glasgow on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne was better flying and in the fav performance, but for me, Chris did a much better bolero and deserved to win as he was the much better skater throughout the whole competition. I'm really disappointed Suzanne won :-(
Jo, Cambs on March 17th, 2008
A well deserved win. Congratulations!!
Angela, London on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne deserved her win, she was the best skater on the night. Chris was so clumsy when doing the flying routine, although he was the best skater during the series, he wasn't on the night. Also no chemistry between him and is partner. Suzanne was the whole package, emotion, connection with her parner, fearless and exciting to watch. Well done Suzanne!
Jean, Newcastle on March 17th, 2008
Chris has been excellent throughout the series but Suzanne outshone him on the night. He had the advantage of previous skating experience in earlier rounds and the girls had the advantage of being lighter and therefore found it easier to fly. The best night's entertainment for ages.
kitty, london on March 17th, 2008
All the chris fans should stop moaning. If more of you had voted he would have won. He has been at the same level since week 3, suzanne has improved with each week. Chris skates for himself and suzanne skates as part of a team.
Mike, Glasgow on March 17th, 2008
All you saying she deserved it, are the glory late comers who only watched the final. Anyone with half a brain cell, knows Chris was better over the whole competition. You would know that if you watched the whole thing. She just had one lucky fluke show last night. A few weeks back she finishsd fourth out of five (skate off position) with the judges
Kara, Glasgow on March 17th, 2008
I really don't think that Suzanne deserved to win. It seemed like the judges were trying to influence the public into thinking she deserved it by giving her a clean sweep of points. Chris is stood out all the way through the show and just seemed to be forgotten at the end. Chris and Frankie deserved to win.
Aoife, Limerick on March 17th, 2008
I was gutted when Chris didn't win. I fell in love with him from his first performance, and was floored by the "Time Warp". His DOI history had been much more exciting and varied than Suzannes, and it really annoyed me how Suzanne used her son to get pity votes last night. Chris's Bolero was by far the better one, there was more intensity, romance and power, while Suzanne's was just her being flung around the place, again. Chris was robbed.
Emma, South Wales on March 17th, 2008
I am a huge Chris fan and to be honest not keen on Suzanne at all, but last night Suzanne was better than Chris. He left me wanting more last night, which I think was his worst week. If it is the overall contest Chris was superior but last night he just didn't live up to what I expect and Suzanne skated for her life.
Keith, Wallasey on March 17th, 2008
Chris was my favourite all the way through and was the best week by week - but it was a FINAL what went before doesn't matter - all that matters was what happened on the night, and on the the night Chris was great, but Susanne was flawless and just edged it.
Rebecca, Suffolk on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne and Matt deserved the win and were the best throughout the series. I am so happy that she won.
Laura, Sheffield on March 17th, 2008
Yes Suzanne may have been better on the final but Chris has been consistently good all the way through and has done more harder and complicated dance moves. He was robbed of the winners title! and i couldnt get through to vote for Chris either...blatently a fix...
Gerri, Darwen on March 17th, 2008
Marie from Newcastle... If you tried to vote for Chris for 30 minutes for the winning spot then you were a bit silly as the phone lines were only open for 20 minutes. If you tried to vote at the beginning of the programme then it didn't make any difference as Chris went through and the slate was wiped clean. Tenuous evidence of a fix at best.
Adam, Luton on March 17th, 2008
It was a very close final but I have to agree with a lot of the people here that it seemed a bit of as fix. Chris was a better preformer and skater even without dancing experience apart from the flying, I did ask myself why put a male in the flying harness as it's hard for a man to look graceful!! I think the it was a fix but you could have told who was going to win after the comments by the judge mid-week!! Shame though because it was a great competion before that! Good old ITV!!
jessica handcock on March 17th, 2008
iyaz i think that she derserves not to win but i truely thought that chris should have won but u lot are crazy just to think that she was the winner thnx ma comment uno lolz but ur propper jacked up for this
katie wade, leicester on March 17th, 2008
i really think that chris should of won because suzanne was only good for one night chris was good in every episode and i believe that he deserved to win and te judges was pushing him out so i think you should get new judges next year that have thoughts for the best instead of the b****
Sarah, Birmingham on March 17th, 2008
Why is it when people lose they shout 'FIX' ???? Shame it has to be brought down to that level by a few that should learn to lose as gracefully as Chris did. Well done to Suzanne!
city fan, manchester on March 17th, 2008
a superb performance brought me to tears too also seen constant improvement each show unlike chris who had a huge advantage as an ice hockey player which people seem to forget well done suzanne
Lynne, Barnet on March 17th, 2008
I think Chris should have won. I could not get through to his line at all and he was pushed to the side all through the show! He was given low marks and critial comments the presenters stood near Suzanne nearly all night. It was pre-arranged for her to win!!!!
abz, manchester on March 17th, 2008
my daughter managed to vote 7 times for chris and i couldnt get through at all for suzanne so forget the pathetic fix chant that always happens on these shows the best one won and was ahead of chris by miles "pure and simple!"
Jo, Ipswich on March 17th, 2008
I agreed that Suzanne skated best on the night but i think overall Chris was the best skater week on week & i feel he was marked down last night, & i thought he deserves to win. I had loads of trouble getting through on Chris's phone line too, so i wasn't impressed.
Laura, Spain on March 17th, 2008
She was better last night but she didnt deserve to win. Chris has been consistently better throughout and flying on the wires is harder for a man anyway. It was like ITV did not want it to be a clean sweep for Chris so they were concentrating on Suzanne all night. Very unfair! Had we forgotten who did the first axel on Dancing on Ice ever- Chris!!!!!
Debbie, Maidstone on March 17th, 2008
I wanted Chris to win. I think he was the most entertaining throughout the series and I havent been a fan of Suzannes but she DID skate better on the night (although I thought Chris and Frankies interpretation of Bolero was better). I managed to vote for Chris twice without any problem at all. There was no fix, even if they wanted to fix it how could they with the current climate of phone scandals?!! Its a shame people have to be bitter, its only a tv show (a very good one, but its not that important!)
Sophie, London on March 17th, 2008
I feel that although Suzanne was a fabulous dancer, she didnt fully deserve her victory. Chris was consistently good every week and fell on a dance that really id more suited to women (the flying). However he was gracious in defeat and therefore you have to respect him for that but again he's been robbed because of the sympathy vote (In Just the Two of us with sian reeves and now!!)
alex on March 17th, 2008
Blantley Fixed, Jason Wanted her to win from the start. And she always brang the fact she "hurt" herself during training. Chris did loads more then her and gave 110% and got marked down.
Julie, West Midlands on March 17th, 2008
I wanted Chris to win, and voted several times (no problems getting through!). I was annoyed that he came last in the flying round, as I thought the point was to get seamless transitions between flying and skating - am I the only one to notice that Chris was the only one attempting this? Zaraah's feet never touched the ice for the whole routine! I have to admit though that Suzanne and Matt's version of Bolero was the better one. However, not sure if this means she deserved to win, as Chris skated much better throughout the whole series.
jenny, Blackpool on March 17th, 2008
Chris should have won. I thought his bolero and cry me a river was better than suzanne. she only got sixes because of the hedbanger it isn't tht hard she just got spinned around by a proffesional. Chris did not have an unfair advantage because he fell over more than the other people did because he was not used to the toe picks. CHRIS SHOULD HAVE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ben on March 17th, 2008
she did not!!! deserve to win!!!!!!!!!!!! the flying she did was completely s*** and it is much harder for the male celebrity because they have to lift and respond to the professional
Alison on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne spent more time during the series off the ice and Chris more time dancing ON the ice. It's harder to lift than be lifted. Chris worked hard, improved each week and was consistently the highest scorer as he was the best dancer. It's also harder for a man to be in the air, the flying section was ridiculous. Greg had ice experience, didn't give him an advantage, did it? Suzanne had dance experience, but Jason never slated her. Chris should have won and the British public know it. If only he'd done that axle again.
Kara, London on March 17th, 2008
Sour grapes anyone? lol Chris was a "better" skater, but his routines were always haphazard. I think Chris's scores were inflated the whole way through, as he was always very untidy. Suzanne could skate and do complicated lifts, while still looking graceful. She was the only one to actually dance on Ice too.
Jennifer on March 17th, 2008
It was a total fix, ten sixes was ridiculous, she was wobbling, she was landing heavily, and her performances were certainly not worth the marks she got. Chris and Zaraah also made their mistakes but their marks reflected their actual performances. Chris and Zaraah both have natural rhythm but it was painful watching Suzanne and Matt try to dance in time to the music. Zaraah's flying was far more graceful than Suzannes, I was disappointed with the show for the obvious fix. Chris' flying was much harder to co-ordinate given that frankie weighs about six stone and he weighs 13 stone, so they must have had to work twice as hard at choreography. UGH!! I say every year I will never watch these fixed shows again but I always do!
Jane, Surrey on March 17th, 2008
Chris should have won and deserved to win. He was totally brilliant throughout the whole series. I'm gutted. Chris is the rightful champ in all our eyes.
rachel on March 17th, 2008
Chris was so the best. Suzanne was wobbling and did not deserve those 6's. God, some people can't see true talent. Suzanne should have come 2nd.
Sophie, Chesham on March 17th, 2008
I can't beleive Chris didn't win. I CRIED WHEN IT WAS ANNOUNCED. Total shame and Suzanne didn't deserve it! The phone lines were fixed, i wanted to vote tons more than i was allowed to on the phone. (It took ages 2 vote.) Nice dress holly!
Emily on March 17th, 2008
I think Suzanne skated well and did deserve to win but I have been a Chris supporter all the way through the series, he has been consistently good throughout. I thought that doing the flying was always going to be difficult for Chris to look graceful but it was obvious he really had fun. I do agree that the whole he has a skating background argument was unfair because Suzanne also has dancing experience which was an advantage. I thought Zaraah was great aswell.
Rachel, Little Chalfont on March 17th, 2008
All i can say is, REALLY STUPID! GO CHRIS!!!!!! Total scam.
charlotte, london on March 17th, 2008
she was good but i think Chris was the winner the show is called DANCING on ice. suzanne had good performances and good scores but Chris was the better performer. he was the only one who actually danced on ice which is the whole point in the show. i think Chris should have won
Vicky, Liverpool on March 17th, 2008
I watched the series the whole way through and I am convinced that the final was fixed for Suzanne to win. Chris was by far the best and most exciting skater on the He was definitely being billed as the favourite the whole way through. A few wobbles on his dates for the Ice Tour, and what do you know? All of a sudden Suzanne is the favourite, the judges' darling and getting straight 6's for routines that weren't even perfect, and Chris is getting criticised and marked down when he actually skated better. I personally thought his flying routine was fantastic; he worked ten times harder than the females who were getting lifted up by their partners, and yes - I did also notice that he was the only one actually skating AND flying. For the judges to say he wasn't graceful was actually pretty disgusting. It was obvious from the way the presenters and the judges were bigging up Suzanne that they wanted her to win and they did a pretty good job of it. Can I also say that poor Zaraah, who was a better skater than Suzanne, hardly got a look-in with the judges and a better reflection on the skating ability would have been to see Zaraah an Chris in the skate-off. An absolutely blatant and shameful cover-up by ITV and the programme makers, who have turned what was a really exciting competition into just another boring fix. Next thing you hear
jon, london on March 17th, 2008
if you think everything is a fix - why do you vote? just because your favourite didn't win - it doesn't mean it is a fix - the lines were probably busy or something on the night, suzanne was brilliant and beat chris - that is when it mattered, just because chris was set to win doesn't mean he should/would compared to his previous great performances, chris was poor on the night - even though you will say 'he had to lead' etc. - the last winner was a guy so it doesn't matter if they are male or femal make all the excuses you want - the judges are professionals and they know what they are talking about - unlike a lot of the comments here suzanne pulled it out of the bag - chris didn't - she was amazing and her winning reflects that
kim, Neath on March 17th, 2008
i really dont know what to think on the matter, i thought overall throughtout the series chris was better hands down, however last nights performance by suzanne was great. But what annoys me is why did they always give the best rutines to suzanne and not zaraah? If she had of done the "flying" rutine then she would have had the marks. I wasnt really bothered who won last night coz i thought they were all good, but surely it is alot harder to be a man and do the lifting and things?? Ive done ballroom dancing for 10 years and i think its alot worse for the man. Anyway regardless of the results it was a fab show as always and definatly the best series so far!
Mystery on March 17th, 2008
what a massive fix, her performances were not perfect, i think she was way OVER MARKED, SO WHAT SHE CAN POSE WHEN GETTIGN SPUN AROUND, WHAT A BIG DEAL NOT!!!!, I NOTICED THAT THE PRESENTERS AND THE CAMERAS WERE ALWAYS INFRONT OF SUZANNES FANS, AND SEVERAL PEOPLE HAD PROBLEMS WITH VOTING FOR CHRIS, THEY COULDN'T GET THROUGH, THEREFORE I THINK IT WAS A BIG FIX, I HOPE THE SHOW IS BANNED FROM TELEVISION, WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A SHOW LIKE THIS INVOLVING PUBLIC CHOICE WHEN THE PRODUCERS, JUDGES AND PRESENTERS ARE FIXING THE OUT COME AND INFLUENCIGN PEOPLES VOTES. THE PRESENTERS NEVER STOOD IN FRONT OF CHRIS'S FANS AND ALWAYS STOOD INFRONT OF SUZANNES FANS, THE JUDGE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS IS DEFINITELY JASON BECAUSE HE SAID NASTY THINGS ABOUT CHRIS IN MAGAZINES LEADIGN UP TO THE FINAL, AND HE EVEN ADDITTED THAT HE WOULD PREFERRED IT IF SUZANNE WON, THEREFORE I THINK KAREN AND JASON SHOULD BE BANNED FROM JUDGING THE SHOW. KAREN SHOULD BE BANNED BECUASE SHE SEE'S EVERYBODY AND COULD FAVOUR OTHER PEOPLE, SHE WAS PRACTICALLY UP SUZANNES ARSE!!!, I SEEN IT WHEN KAREN CELEBRATED WHEN SUZANNE CAME TOP OF THE LEADER BOARD FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Suzanne shaw on March 17th, 2008
i admitt that the show was a complete fix and i know i did not deserve the 6's, i did not deserve to win CHRIS SHOULD HAVE WON, every one knows that Chris should have won. I landed heavily when i was flying and i don't know why i got them 6's. i have found out that Jason made nasty comments about Chris so i think i should give the trophy to Chris.
Maria, Hove on March 17th, 2008
I had never heard of Chris Fountain until this series of DOI. He is by far the best and most exciting amateur skater I've seen. He made me look forward to watching him every week, and he and Frankie made a fantastic pair. His skill is so clearly superior to anyone else's no matter what the result was last night. I neither know nor care if the result was a fix- Chris deserved to win for all he's done this series. The final did NOT in any way wipe out the previous shows and Chris has been head and shoulders above the rest since Week 1. Jason Gardiner, the other judges and ITV should feel quite ashamed of how obviously they geared the final for suzanne to win- my only question is what on earth was to be gained by this result. Chris, if you or any of your family read this- you are the true winner of DOI 2008 and anyone with an ounce of common sense knows this. Well done and good luck to you for the future- I hope you keep up skating because I would definitely watch you professionally.
Hermie, London on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne performance is magnanimous..Its superb to watch.. Perfect and very professional. Her attitude adds to the value of it.. Well deserved...
Sheila Dolores, Alicante, Spain on March 17th, 2008
suzanne and matt were amazing together and were my favourites to win from the start, chris was not the best but he thought he was.well done suzanne and matt.
Jay, Wales on March 17th, 2008
It gets boring, after every reality show now there are screams of fix if the person someone wanted to win doesn't. Suzanne deserved to win on the night, she pulled it out when it was vital, as the scores from the judges seems to suggest, what you've got to remember is that there would be quite a few people who only watched last nights and on the night she was the best.
Lou, Hull on March 17th, 2008
Chris was so bigheaded. He presumed he'd got it in the bag and didnt need to try very hard to win. He knew all the girls that fancied him would vote. But Suzanne came out and stole the show from him by a spectacular performance. Chris couldnt be graceful on the ice if he tried. He always skated like a clumsy ice hockey player to me. Suzanne thoroughly deserved to win and many congratulations to her I was over the moon for her.
Nadia, London on March 17th, 2008
omg i sooooooooooo wanted zaraah to win
Jon, Somerset on March 17th, 2008
Chris was the best throughout the series and is the real champ. The final was geared entirely in Suzanne's favour.
Kerry on March 17th, 2008
I agree that it was fixed. I was so annoyed last night I have watched the series all way through and looked forward to Sunday nights, seeing Chris perform and just get better and better with each week, attempting harder and more complexed routines. But with every high score he received, he just tried to top that the next week he never reached a stopping point he just kept going. I'll never forget that week that Suzanne’s partner injured his ribs and she knew they would limited so she decided to include the head banger in her routine. knowing full well that Chris could never attempt that but it backfired as the judges so through her show off antics that time, she just jammed as many lifts in her routines as she could if that’s not showing off I don't know what is. The idea is to dance on ice not see how many times you can be thrown around by your partner. Last week he threw everything into to his performance and it was spectacular, maybe not flawless but well deserved scores. But notice the same judges kept him at 5.5s who vote for Suzanne. Her highest score all series was 27.5 and just last night she gets a perfect score no way. Who the hell choreographed Chris’s flying routine last night (Karen Suzanne’s supporter) and how the hell did they think that poor Frankie could hold his weight in that spin at the end-he found himself having to hold some of his own weight to take pressure off her which put him at an unfair disadvantage when he should have been concentrating on his own body movements to begin with. And then to top it off at the end him and Frankie choreographed their own unique bolero routine as required and Suzanne may well have copied all tourvill and deans routine to what she did that was hers. But yet she received all perfect scores yet again that truly were undeserved, also they kept Chris just under her scores last night in the second dance coincidence I don’t think so. They pushed him out in every possible way pulling him up in every thing including the end position where he fell over wow that cares. The judges who have been his supporters throughout all changed their opinions on one night I don’t think so. I not saying it was his best performance last night but parts of it were way better than Suzanne’s by far. But let’s face it she has been tipped to win since before she even skated on ice so we can’t be surprised at the outcome. I just thought that this year we would see the deserved winner win the show for their overall performance not who performed on the night as Claire was robbed last year. That’s where the public comes in? Still I hear she’s going to do well out of it all £1m what with modelling for ultimo and staring in the musical Chicago. Yen I know this sounds like a lot like sour grapes but I just wanted this year to be different. This will be the last year I watch this show which is a shame as really enjoyed this year and really see how hard it must be to dance on ice. Still we all know who the real winner was.
Duncan, Lincolnshire on March 17th, 2008
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed the constant promotion of Suzanne on Sunday, it was so obviously a fix, it was inevitable the other week when one of the judges changed her vote for Suzanne so she was in the lead, the adverts on tv kept saying 'will Suzanne overcome her injuries', what injuries is all I can say, the fact that the presenters were stood in front of Suzanne's Supporters all night long, Jason made that negative comment in the newspapers about Chris, the constant shots of Suzanne's Child, Nicky said all night long Chris has been the best skater on Dancing on Ice ever, so why did he only give Chris 5.5, not many people can get through to vote for Chris but Suzanne's line was constantly open, People say that Chris had an easier job because he used to be a ice hockey play, even though its completely different, plus he did axels, spins, lifts, skating on his own, the lot, why was it that the female skaters did the flying, but Chris had to do it as well, surely thats unfair considering his weight and obviously females are going to be more elegant as they are lighter and more flexible, if they are going to do that surely Suzanne and Zaraah should have to lift the men up as a reverse role. ITV have done it once again X-Factor and now Dancing On Ice.
Debbie, Dorset on March 17th, 2008
Chris should have won, by far the best SKATER!
Judith, N.Ireland on March 17th, 2008
Suzanne's victory was definitely deserved last night, she skated sublimely. Close to call in the Bolero - they were both good, but Chris made too many mistakes earlier in the night and didn't create any sort of chemistry with Frankie. He might've been better than Suzanne the majority of the previous weeks, but obviously the public realised Suzanne deserved to win - she's come further in terms of learning than he has. And as for the claims of fixed voting, surely it was more unfair on Suzanne to have the lines open before she'd skated when people had seen what Chris could do and not her. If she'd lost, people would've said the whole series was biased towards Chris (which I personally feel it was until last night - his semi-final performance was way messier than Suzanne's and he didn't ever get penalised just for the content of his routines when he had no control over it). The best skater on the night won, no amount of moaning or complaining it was a fix is going to change that. It's only a competition....

From the 1st program it was obvious that Chris & Suzanne were the ones to watch. And so it proved. Chris gave some very original performances, whilst Suzanne concentrated more on technique. In the Final she delivered both technique and originality to match Chris. it is not as easy as some think to be lifted and hold the position gracefully. Both were outstanding and either could have won, but on the night Suzanne had the edge. Where did she wobble?

Best Ice Dancer won on the night. Chris has been the judges favourite all series, but not always the best competitor in my opinion. To be a professional ice hockey player gave him the biggest advantage any celebrity could have had, he didn't have to learn to skate from scratch like Suzanne.

Yeah, Suzanne had a great night last night, I don't deny it! However, she has been very inconsistent throughout the series. Just thought it was odd Chris' first performance scored so low and don't think her 2nd performance deserved 6's. The judges were unfair too: marking Chris down for not finishing correctly on cry me a river. he improvised ... it wasn't supposed to be a carbon copy of wk4!! Robin's comment on his bolero (which i thought was amazing) was really uncalled for. ITV just didn't want him to win on the night as they wanted an upset. Well done Suzanne, but Chris is the true champion and we all know it!

Funny how all the girls think Chris should have one and all the blokes think Suzanne deserved the victory.

tried 12 times only got one vote in for chris. (line was busy, then the number no longer existed and then high volume) My girlfriend managed to regester 5 votes and had no problem voting for suzanne. I feel robbed...

Yes it may have been a fix but when will people learn not to put moeny into these competitions cause so many end in controvery, stop voting if you think they are fixed. I will never vote again after ITV's handling of all there phone lined competitions all a fix in my thoughts but I wont cry over I will never vote again when the money drys up then maybe they will run a fair competition.
deanne on March 18th, 2008
what a fix .who would vote for her shes only a dirty ex of darren day .criss was entertaining and has a likability factor she has nothing
Louise, Staffordshire on March 18th, 2008
Voting is just a waste of money full stop!! Who gets the money for the votes anyway? I didn't even bother to try because I wasn't sure if it would be fix or not, regardless of who won. In my opinion, I think that they both skated extremely well and admittedly, Chris has been excellent throughout the whole series and attempting a jump that has never been done on the show which was highly impressive. On the night of the final though, I feel that Suzanne only just pipped him at the post - it was a very close competition and my decision was very split as to who I think was the best. I'm pleased with the result but if Chris had won, I would have been pleased as well - the right competitors were in the final and I think that was all that mattered. Congratulations to both Chris and Suzanne for doing so well. I very much look forward to seeing the tour, I'm going to see it in Manchester in May!!

Suzanne was the best in the final, with a great flying programme and also great favourite (Music), but was only slightly better at the Bolero than Chris; but in total, she won. Chris was the better technical skater, but she was the better ice dancer and had superior presentation, which was what mattered in the end. But Suzanne had only got really good in the semi-final when she did Eternal Flame, because she showed off her poise and elegance. Chris had been better than her up to that point, but she overtook him in the final. Also, he was the favourite and was under pressure, but she relaxed more because she thought she had no real chance of winning. Compare what happened to last year with Clare Buckfield and Kyran Bracken, very similar situation (except Kyran is a better ice dancer than Chris, though not as good a technical skater). Clare won the final but lost the public vote. Suzanne seemed genuinely surprised and shocked to have won, and Chris seemed genuinely shocked and disappointed to have lost. But last year Clare was not at all surprised when Kyran won, and Kyran seemed to have expected to win despite what happened in the final. What won for Suzanne was her better ice dancer and better presentation, with superior poise, elegance and grace. Chris was doing more difficult stuff technically, and was much faster, but this counted against him because what he did was often too fast for the public to appreciate; whereas Suzanne signposted and presnted everything she did at a speed the public could take in. She definitely won on the night, but it's a surprise the public voted for her. Was it a fix ? Last year no-one complained about Kyran winning. (or did they ? Not that I remember.) Was Chris better throughout the series ? Yes. And Suzanne only got really good near the end, but Chris' level of performance as far as presentation is concerned, remained more or less the same. Suzanne made a greater improvement.

Suzanne skated the best and got the best marks - but let's face it - Chris's performances were more inventive, more entertaining, and he was just plain fun and exciting to watch. Sorry - but as far as I'm concerned, although Suzanne skated better Sunday - Chris was better throughout the series and deserved to win more. Suzanne has also made digs about Chris having an unfair advantage which, for me, sounded like jealousy and sour grapes. I feel it was fixed and Chris definitely should have won in my eyes (and so did the bookies by the sounds of it)

FIX FIX FIX FIX FIX!!! I knew before the final had even started that they had picked suzanne to win, its not right Chris was amazing the whole way through from the first show to the last. The judges were extreamly harsh on Chris in the final I dont understand the judges are meant to be professionals how could they not take into consideration that chris had to skate, dance and do all the lifting, as for the flying Chris basically had to do that all him self were as suzanne just got chucked around by her partner. I also cant understand why juge Jason Gardiner was aloud to slate Chris fountin over the radio and in the news papers saying how he had an advantage because he plays ice hockey and that he doesnt deserve to win but nothing was said about Suzanne dancing all her life. Again I thought the judges were meant to know this sport, because judges in case you hadnt noticed hockey skates are nothing like ice skates so ill say it again the show was just one big FIX! Chris you are amazing and the true champion!!!
Diana, Great Yarmouth on March 19th, 2008
I totally agree with Genna from Dundee. Every time you saw Phillip Scholfield he was standing in front of Suzanne supporters. It was set up to influence the voters. I wish one of the news papers would analysis how much they showed her supporters against how much they showed Chris's. It would be interesting. Oh I thought subliminal advertising was illegal?? but not on voting shows maybe.
Lou on March 20th, 2008
there was no difficulty in voting for chris because i rang it myself an got through, a possible answer for this could have been that the phone lines were actually busy at the time the people who couldn't get through called that does happen you know, and i believe that suzanne was the worthy winner of the night did chris recieve straight sixes from the judges no so that evidently proves that the judges who have the professional opinion thought she was the better skater. and as for the fact shes had dance training well chris has had ice hockey training so it was a fair final between the two of them wasn't it they both had an advantage ovr one another.
Lou on March 20th, 2008
as for it being a fix do you really think itv would risk fixing the competition after everything thats gone on with the phone line competitons, and why would they fix the show for suzanne its not like they get anything from it its not like x factor when they get a record deal suzanne just wins the trophy and probably gets more money but itv don't get anything from it at all shes not on a contract with them to be an ice skater now so why would they risk fixing the competition, people saying this are just sore losers and they can't get over the fact that chris was beaten i suggest they just get over it theres no point in this its quite pathetic.
sean jmc on March 20th, 2008
it was good, but chris definitely deserved to win.
kym, derby on March 20th, 2008
I agree with those of you who say that suzanne skated better on the night, but how can we forget Chris's amazing performance each sunday throughout the competition? Suzanne was also amazing but I think the majority of the scores each week prooved who the favourite was so surely the final voting must have been fixed. Also, it was hardly fair that Fountain had to do the first dance of the night in the air. It is clearly meant to be the woman in the air and the man supporting her on the ice. I would like to point out that the TV times that week had Chris, Suzanne and GARETH as the three finalists on the front page. Fixed? I think so!
Pete, Manchester on March 20th, 2008
Most people going into the final expected to vote for Chris and expected him to win, but a lot of people changed their minds on the night and voted for Suzanne, because she performed MUCH better than expected, whereas Chris performed below expectations. Suzanne had a definite advantage established by her beautiful flying routine and pressed her advantage further with Music. But, despite top scores (10 6.0's = 60) the door was still open for Chris. If he could match her on the favourite dance and score 5 6.0's or give a spellbinding performance even if he did not get top marks, he would still have won. But his Cry Me A River did not blow people away as Suzanne's Music did, and had a very visible mistake. Basically, it was a poor choice of programme, and if Chris had done Vida Loca and perhaps added a jump, he might still have won. But by the time they got to dance Bolero, the public had already chosen Suzanne as the winner, mainly because her Music was considerably better than his Cry Me A River. They would have forgiven Chris his clumsy flying as they did Kyran last year (remember Clare Buckfield beat him in the final on the judges scores but lost out to him on the public vote) if he produced something special in his favourite programme, but he was below par. By Bolero, it was all over, and people generally had little tyo choose between Chris and Susanne's. Suzanne's Bolero was actually the least good of all her programmes on the night but she had already won.

What people seem to assume when they say fix is that everyone who voted on the final actually saw the whole series; but remember, the final itself had much higher ratings simply because it was the final than any other episode before. So, a lot of people who voted only tuned in to see a final and had not been following the weekly progress, so they would not know how Suzanne and Chris had performed before. So, a lot of people actually voted based on what they saw ON THE NIGHT, not based on anything that had gone before because they had NOT seen it. So, if Suzanne skated better ON THE NIGHT (which she did), and that is what a lot of EXTRA viewers saw, the ones who were only tuning in to watch a FINAL, if she had NOT won, it would have been a fix.

I could get through for Chris, and voted twice! Was totally gutted that he didn't win! How could the cry me a river routine not get straight 6s. Anyway I'm going to see them on tour, wasn't until he said he was going, and will vote for him then. Fantastic series! Much better on a Sunday night, didn't see the previous series as was usually out on a saturday night, am hooked now!
