SeaChange president and CEO Bill Styslinger said today that the launches of video on demand (VOD) services on NTL and Telewest reflected "the growing worldwide trend in television."

The VOD systems on both cable operators are based on SeaChange technologies, including MediaCluster servers and automation software. Because the VOD services are run from the cable headend, no equipment changes are needed - subscribers keep their existing set top boxes.

NTL CEO Simon Duffy said that VOD "is television the way it's meant to be," while Telewest president and COO Eric Tveter said that Telewest is "transforming television as we know it."
