This box works slightly better than my Pace 2400 (less pixilation) in this fringe area (Astra 2D) and responds quicker with the remote commands than the Pace. It generates very little heat as well, but unfortunately should not be placed in a confined area. Bonus for including the optical output for sound. Looks good as well.

I have one in a second location and it has always worked well. It will switch off however if sat on a weak signal for several seconds, needing a reboot. Prefers to be on at least a 1.5 metre dish here, rather than the usual 1.2/1.3 metre which is the norm here.

The Sony is great, and has performed well over the years. But I can't seem to get it to work with the EXT Link of my DVD recorder ( Panny )

NIce looking Box and goes well with other Silver equipment and interacts well with my Panasonic DVD Recorder with Ext Link function. It is very slow, but picture is OK. However it is really annoying as it freezes quite often. If I use the Ext link function of my DVD Recorder and the Personal planner, and the Sony freezes up, the recording does not take place. I now perform a power off at the socket routine at least once a week which seems to work. I stick with it because I have a full blown home Cinema system with a great Yamaha Amp etc and I use the optical feed from the Sony to the Yamaha. Even though not 5.1 or DTS the movies are still much better this way than just stereo.

This SONY is very slow, but its 2 channel audio is better than most other digiboxes. Picture quality is better than average but I would recommend this box purely on its audio capabilities. Overall a good receiver but lacks the speed required.

Don't be fooled by this box - it may look sexy, but it's an absolute piece of crap. Rubbish picture quality - RGB output is far too soft, terribly slow aswell - slow to change channel, takes an age to load interactive! I'm a Sony fan, and most of my gear is Sony, so thought this would be great to go with the rest of my kit. I was wrong, it's rubbish - Sony were way off the mark with this one! I bought it second-hand off eBay back in June, and sent it strait back to the seller and got a full refund. I only had it a few days, and it crashed once, whilst flicking through the channels! Why these go for £50+ on eBay, I'll never know. Stay well away.

Great Box, goes well with my other Sony kit. Can be slow on the menus and channel change. This is my second unit, the first one did tend to freeze from time to time and needed switching off at the wall. Overall a good box, I dont think it can compare to the Pansonic for speed, but picture quality is good. The only reason you would buy one of the these over the Panasonic is purely to fit with other silver Sony equipment.

Great looking box. Thinnest on the market. Woked well over the last 2 years and I bought it 2nd hand. The menus are the SLOWEST of any box that I have used.

Great box, but does tend to freeze now and again. The main feature is the the optical out but this doesnt transmit anything other than a stereo signal but with the right upmixer you can watch some pretty decent broadcasting in surround!
