DO NOT BUY THIS. My DV940BN from Argos has just exploded and white acrid smoke was pouring from it while I was watching TV. Mad dash to rip the plug out. Could have been a lot worse. It's really sh*t me up. I have another 3 of these in the house. And as people say, they freeze up regularlly. Cheap crap. Steer clear. Prevent house fires!

Within a matter of months I was having to turn the plug socket on and off 4 times before it would start working. Within 6 months it had packed up altogether. Absolute Rubbish!

Cheap but only 1 scart socket, sound dropouts if left on channel every 15/20 minutes so no good to record a film with! 7day epg not good, why they don't fix the vestel sound dropout bug on all these cheap units is beyond me. goodmans, bush, matsui, wharfdale, acoustic solutions, etc, etc all have the sound dropout bug!!!!

Mine deletes every thing when it's nearly full and it crashes occasionally. It glitched yesterday when I looked in the timer list but its nearly fine if it did not delete everything.

Ive had no problems with this box, apart from rarely a) - the box powers off & on again by itself for no reason (maybe once a month) b) - a slight pause when changing channels sometimes. Considering it was a tenner cheaper than the other brands for sale at the time of purchase, I'm pretty happy. If it's a tenner on ebay or whatever then it's a bargain

Am quite happy with the box. No problem with TV channels

dv940bn constant problems freezing up and channel switching probably due to same frequency remotes in the same area. very unhappy to have wasted my money

SoundLad, Birkenhead on January 22nd, 2007
Useless it looses channels constantly even though my attenna is a proper Digital One... I have to keep rescanning channels to get it back.. Then when it comes to Interactive from the BBC the box just crashes and goes back to Factory Default. A waste of space and a waste of time..

Must admit, we've had no problems what-so-ever with this box - even went out to buy another one! Infact, we got a slightly different model (DV940BN) which appears to have an even better 7-day EPG allowing you to compare future programming on different channels side-by-side. Especially good value for the money!

Would have to agree with other comments made, this box severly affected BBC1 reception. The reception was fine whilst in Digital mode but terrible otherwise. This box also suffers terribly from interference i.e mobile phones, cordless house phones this i believe is due to the poor quality components used. Cheap and does the trick sometimes

Now problems at all with this box apart from there is no SCART lead included.... WHY DO THEY DO THIS!!!!!!!!!! add a quid to the price and chuck one in for god sake. one star lost for this. anyway same as Digihome DVB915, Matsui DTR3 and many more I suspect, Also the same screens etc as the integrated Freeview on our Orion and my mothers Grundig TV. Please remember Freeview will only work if you have the correct aerial pointed at the correct transmitter etc if you don’t ALL boxes will play up and freeze. there are lots of things that will affect receiving the service despite what the adverts say most of the time you cant just plug one in and go without problems. Please check these facts before you condemn any brand of Freeview box or integrated TV.

Digital was okay but slight ghost images rolling across the screen. This box affected the BBC1 analogue signal badly after many different cabling approaches. Okay at switch on then worsened as it warmed up. Sending back to Amazon.

I find the user manual unhelpful to say the very least. The trouble shooting section is useless and no advice on where to go for help if you're stuck. I bought this product solely for CBeebies. it worked for a couple of weeks and since then, 'NO SIGNAL' or 'SCRAMBLED CHANNEL' messages are there. Such a shame...

Bought one on Ebay for a tenner and it has not impressed, I believe it has broken one TV and when used in the kitchen the screen freezes whenever anyone walks near it, NOT GOOD!

The box is ok, but prone to crashes and freezing up, plus it loses MUX's constantly, (although the hyperterminal/ serial comm port upgrade tool, utilising the scart socket is good, if their was an upgrade for it that is)
