Disney Channel signs IPTV programming deal

From June 2007, Disney Channel and pre-school channel Playhouse Disney, will be available as part of Tiscali TV's Kids Pack and the family channel Disney Cinemagic, will be a stand alone premium subscription channel.
Rob Gilby, managing director of Disney Channel UK, Scandinavia and emerging markets, said: "Our mission is to ensure that our audience can engage with Disney Channel programming via as many platforms as possible."
Tiscali TV launched on March 1 this year, when over 40,000 Homechoice subscribers became Tiscali TV customers, paying £14.99 for broadband plus TV. The service is available in London and Stevenage, and has been rolled out to Birmingham, Edinburgh and Newcastle over the past few months, with Leeds, Sheffield and Liverpool to follow.
Mary Turner, chief executive Tiscali UK, said: "We are delighted to add Disney's leading channels for kids and families to our portfolio. We are sure that these new channels will prove popular with subscribers and further enhance our quality TV offering."
Tiscali is also planning launch a new set top box in July, with a 160Gb, hi-definition enabled, personal video recorder.
