Voom has confirmed that it will continue to partner with Arqiva for upcoming high definition channel launches across Europe.

Yesterday, the broadcaster's extreme sports channel Rush HD joined the Sky EPG after a period of testing. The channel's 15Mbps MPEG-4 1080i stream is sent via fibre from Voom's network communications centre in New York to Arqiva's teleport facility in Chalfont Grove, at which point it is multiplexed and uplinked to Eurobird.

"In preparing the international launch of Rush HD, we selected Arqiva not only for (its) strong customer service approach, but also for its working relationship with Sky and its commitment to the future of HD broadcasting," said Voom's senior vice president for global operations and business development, Glenn Oakley.

Although Voom has indicated that it has no current plans for any further HD channel launches in the UK, it said it would continue to use Arqiva for further HD rollouts across Europe.
