The service, called Rabbit, will allow users to set up profiles with pictures sent in by mobile phone. A spokeswoman said the service was replacing Teletext Cars and would be carried on Multiplex 2.
Teletext has been developing a range of applications for digital television. As well as information services alongside the ITV and Channel 4 channels it operates Teletext Holidays TV on Freeview and satellite and has been rolling out Teletext Extra, a programme guide and information service, to some Freeview set-top boxes.
Teletext told DS that Rabbit is "a natual extension of our analogue dating service".
The service was granted an Ofcom broadcast licence last month, as noted in the Digital Spy Freeview forum.
There are currently no plans to launch Rabbit on satellite.
