HD DSAT card launches in Freesat run-up

Hauppauge has released a high definition digital satellite receiver for PCs in anticipation of greater consumer awareness of free to air services broadcasting on satellite after the launch of Freesat.

The WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2 has been linked to Freesat in several media reports, though Hauppauge is not an official manufacturer for the subscription-free service.

The new card is the first from the company to support HD and the DVB-S2 transmission standard, which is commonly used for HD broadcasts.

A flurry of channels - likely to include BBC HD and a high definition service from ITV - are expected to begin free to air broadcasting for the launch of Freesat, which is scheduled for this spring.
