The wireless networking partnership between cableco Telewest and hardware maker Netgear was strengthened today with a new Netgear-supported online wizard on the Telewest Blueyonder website.
In a move to make wi-fi more user-friendly, the new wizard will allow customers to design a wireless network from scratch without necessarily knowing the details of the technology itself. Once the network has been designed, customers can order the equipment directly through the wizard. An option will exist to revisit the wizard at a later date to expand an existing setup.
"blueyonder wireless will enable net users to create a totally customised, wire-free home with the minimum amount of fuss and complexity," said Telewest's director of internet, Chad Raube. "As more wireless digital devices come to market, we're going to see more and more consumers ditching their wires and join the wire-free world, enabling them to enjoy the benefits of a broadband home."
The cableco says that the average cost of setting up a network through the wizard will be around £75, although it does say this will vary according to individual requirements.
