Telewest is hoping to tempt its last remaining dialup users over to broadband by offering the advanced service at the same price.

From November 1, so-called "diehard dialup" users will be offered a 256k broadband connection for £14.99 a month, down from the usual £17.99. Free installation and free use of a cable modem are also included.

"It's never been easier to switch to broadband - and now the price is
right for hesitant dial-up users to test the broadband water," said Eric Tveter, president and chief operating officer at Telewest Broadband.

"There are now no reasons not to take broadband - the price is the same as
dial-up but there are none of the frustrations and the advantages are
obvious - faster speeds, an always on connection and you can use the phone
and the internet at the same time."
