Welsh digital trial underway

A trial is now underway in two Welsh villages of a complete switchover to digital terrestrial television.

The two villages, Ferryside and Llansteffan, receive terrestrial TV signals from a single relay transmitter. Digital transmissions are now being broadcast from the tower. For now, analogue transmissions are also continuing, although it is understood that these will be switched off in March.

Residents of the two villages were given free digiboxes to convert their homes to DTT. The BBC reports that boxes were given to around 350 homes.
