BBC World is switching off analogue satellite transmissions across Europe in April, the broadcaster has confirmed.

The BBC said the move was "in line with the industry trend of switching off such signals across the continent".

Those watching BBC World on Hotbird 6 will have to retune - with a DVB-compliant digital receiver - to transponder 94 (12597Mhz) on the satellite from mid-April.

The channel will remain unencrypted following its analogue switchoff.
