Telewest has now fully completed a region-by-region programme of speed upgrades to its broadband internet service, and is offering the three new tiers of service to new customers.
The 512kbps starter tier (£17.99/month), now known simply as "broadband", now has a downstream speed of 2Mbps. The 1Mbps tier (£25/month), "broadband complete", now has a downstream speed of 4Mbps. The cable operator's top tier of service (£35/month), "broadband elite", has a downstream speed of 10Mbps, and this has replaced the old 2Mbps and 4Mbps service levels.
"We now offer a raft of broadband services to suit every surfer's speed and pocket, from an entry-level up to 2Mb service to a super-fast, up to 10Mb connection," said Chad Raube, director of internet at NTL Telewest. "What's more, unlike ADSL broadband services, our advanced fibre optic cable network can deliver these speeds to every serviceable household, so no one need miss out."
