Since the beginning of this year when I visited Sky to chat with the Sky+ development team we have all been wondering when the next software release and what will it include.
The speculation continues but I received some information on what might be in the planning for the next few months.
At some point over the rest of the summer there is currently (but it may change) a plan to release an update (see below for a list of possible features).
After that the road map shows some possible developments by the end of the year.
There will be a further update on this in early August.
Summer 2002
Manual Recordings
- Record radio programmes (hitherto not possible with Sky+)
- Set up repeat recordings where Series Linking unavailable
- Set “padding??? or extra time before/after scheduled recordings
Late 2002
ReView
- Ability for “constant recording??? to enable rewind from live TV
- User definable “buffer???
Late 2002
Dual Simultaneous Recordings
- Record two programmes on different channels at the same time
- Watch recorded programme while recording two programmes
- Archive “paused??? material to Sky+ Planner
Well that I think takes care of many of our January wish list items. :) These are all subject to change and timings may vary :) .
There doesn't seem to be any change to the pricing options or the £10 a month charge for use of Sky+.
Sky+ possible future developments...
