The two new children's channels from the BBC will launch on February 11, it has been announced today.

CBBC will be targetted at 6-13 year olds, whilst CBeebies will have a pre-school audience. CBBC will broadcast 7am - 7pm, and CBeebies will air from 6am - 7pm. At the same time, the channels will launch with their own distinctive logos and brand identities which will also be carried through on CBBC on BBC One and CBeebies on BBC One and BBC Two.

Nigel Pickard, CBBC Controller, said: "February 11th marks an exciting new era for children’s television. A combination of the highest proportion of original programming and CBBC’s reputation for making the best programmes across all the genres will ensure that digital viewers will be able to enjoy some of the best programming of any broadcaster in the UK."

CBBC also announced that it is working in conjuntion with Radio 1 to broadcast The Official UK Top 40 on CBBC. Hosted by Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq and Adrian Dickson, it will play out new chart highlights as well as simultaneously revealing the new Number One.

"Music is a core part of the lives of the CBBC audience," Pickard added. "By joining forces with Radio 1, CBBC ensures that our viewers are the first television audience to get the latest chart update."

Meanwhile, CBeebies will premiere Ragdoll's new series - Teletubbies Everywhere - a new ten minute format that originates and complements the original Teletubbies series.

"Teletubbies has always been a conversation between the characters and the audience," said Pickard, "and Teletubbies Everywhere is a new interpretation of that conversation - a slightly different way of interpreting that relationship between the four characters and the child."
