Kerry Katona revealed her anguish today in the aftermath of splitting from her fifth husband.
The former Atomic Kitten singer admitted that she is "depressed" and "devastated" by the break-up of her marriage to call centre worker Joe Anderson, who she started dating just three months ago. They tied the knot last month in Marbella, Kerry's favourite holiday location, and promptly told a number of celebrity magazines that they were "made for each other".
"I can't believe things didn't work out with Joe. I thought he was the love of my life," a sobbing Kerry explained today. "But sadly, things just weren't working out and we'll be divorcing. I'm devastated and suffering from depression again. It's very hard for me to go through and I'll be checking back in to The Priory within the next few days to get the support that I need at this difficult time."
Katona's spokesman added: "Kerry's fans needn't worry about her. We all know that she's a survivor and she'll get over this, just like she did the other four times."
The news is likely to boost flagging sales of Kerry's twelfth autobiography, I Will Survive (My Failed Marriages), which will now be specially updated to include details of the latest break-up. Suspiciously, some copies of the book already contained a chapter about Katona breaking up from Anderson when it was released six weeks ago, but the 37-year-old has denied allegations of a publicity stunt.
"This break-up is 100% real," Kerry insisted to DS today. "As if I would do something like this for publicity. In fact, I'm making a list of my divorce demands as we speak. Want a copy?"
Katona's celebrity status has been in somewhat of a decline in the past two years, perhaps best illustrated by her being the first contestant to be voted off I'm A Celebrity: Champion of Champions last year.
