How is Anti-anti racist inflammatory?

Is anyone even allowed to speak these days without fear of being branded something and hounded like a fox?

It also carries an unpleasant connotation of "tainted". I didn't think anyone much had said it since the 70s, to be honest.

In a modern political world of sound bites, of megaphone / foghorn diplomacy rather than considered discussion, and of instant media responsive to public opinion, the CBB issue was bound to blow up in everyone's faces. In the days when you would not have heard about any of this stuff until the papers came out the next day or until a newsreel was circulated, nobod would have cared as much.

using pejorative expressions like Coloured is another hint as to your leanings I suspect
I don't see anything wrong with the word coloured but perhaps that's because I'm not that well up on quite which expressions are acceptable and which aren't.

I'm disappointed in your last comment because it implies that because I'm uncomfortable with the way this anti-racist thing is moving, that therefore I am impied to be a racist.
That closes down debate.

Racism is 100% disgusting and despicable but -- I have seen it in my office -- people are weary of "jack-in-the-box" politicians jumping up telling everyone what to think.

They are actually increasing support for the vile cause of racism and for "the right to make racist comments in a free country etc etc" that is very sad. :(

Thank you.
My point EXACTLY.

This is the scourge of Political Correctness, you see. Instead of educating people about other cultures, and changing people's perceptions by broadening their minds, society wants to legislate people into being frightened to speak their brains.

The problem is that this gives the far right an advantage. It makes the less intelligent people in society want to vote for the BNP. This party has already picked up new support in recent years and looks set to continue.

I am already sick of the weay the anti-racist thought police have hijacked this.

When you are told that EVERYTHING you think or say about a coloured person can be interpreted as racist then I go the opposite way.

I have resolved to buy magazines which have Jade/Danielle/Jo on the cover.

Anti-racism is the new McCarthyism.

What's a "coloured' person?

I agree with OP. Sick to the back teeth of the political agenda. Sick to death of the thought police bulying and frightening people into any healthy debate. The Mobo's!!!!!!Whats that about? Is there a music of white origins award? Now i await the torrent of abuse to come crashing down on me. In my kids school the names the Indian kids and black kids call each other and speak to each other makes my hair curl. The sooner the likes of Trevor Philips open their eyes and admit it the healtheir the debates will be. I find it nauseating that jumped muppets like Tim Walker from the Telegraph can sit on national tv and litterally snear at Jades lack of intelligence and class. I would say its part the fault of the lack of successive governments and their education policies and the do-gooders who allowed her to carry on living with a mother who was claearly unable to look after her. If Jade was non white they would be bending over backwards to make allowances for her and lets not forget if Shilpa had been a white middleclass girl with servants do you think this mock outcry would have happend!!!!!! RANT OVER

Explain?

bleeth 21-01-2007 12:23

The problem is not political correctness, it is exclusiveness.

Nazism was a real problem in so many countries in the 1930's (Britain and the US had Hitler sympathizers). "They came for the Jews... they came for the communists... they came for the trade unionists... then they came for me!" or so the famous verse goes.

The parting on the Left is as destructive as the parting on the Right - "Meet the new boss... same as the old boss" ("Won't Get Fooled Again", the Who).

So long as exclusion rather than inclusion is the name of the game, nobody can feel safe.

It's more sensible than 'black' and 'white'.
Very few people have black or white skin. We are nearly all various shades from pale beige to dark brown.

I think it is offensive to have white and coloured.

Everybody is a colour, white is a colour, black is a colour etc.

To call anybody who isn't white coloured is to imply that white is the norm!

Jade has stated she was Racist, so all you defending her have just had your argument blown out of the water otherwise you're gonna sound racist yourselves now. You lost, leave it.
