Michael Jacksons Number Ones

Hi everyone this is the first time I've added a new post here so be gentle!

I don't know about anyone else but all Christmas I've been listening to the new Michael Jackson album "Number ones". It's shocking at how many good songs that this guy has come up with....he has to be one of the greatest performers of all time.

It has to be said that artists these days don't seem to come up with classics like these. Its a shame to think to that the Michael Jackson may now only be remembered for recent allegations in the news. Lets not forget about some of the great music that this guy had.

Just wondered what everyone else thought?

Agreeing totally mc.

Jacko is a fantastic writer/performer.
I hope that whatever has or has not [as the case may be] happened in his private life, doesn't stop people from enjoying the great music that he has poured into the charts over the years.
The guy is a musical genius.

The fact is that greatest hits albums are not good albums, they are just mere moneymakers at the end of the career, the two new songs on it are crap.

Michael Jackson was a absolute genius and my favourite artist of all time. I haven't got Number 1s as I already have all his previous albums.

Off the Wall is absolute classic and is my favourite album of all time. But I will admit that after Bad, his music (and sanity) went downhill.

Although this sounds a weird, but considering Michael's private life post-93 (it in the back of my mind) I sort of wish that he had died in the early 90s, thus preventing his downfall and preserving his legacy and music.

Now, he will always be tarnished a freak and paedo, not matter how good his music is. Death can be the best career move an artist can make.

I think Off The Wall and Thriller were easily his best albums (and brilliant to boot) , and it all went downhill from there, Bad was ok, and the last MJ album I bought, he just got progressively worse. I think owning Off The Wall and Thriller is better than buying any of his greatest hits albums, you miss so many good tracks otherwise, like "Human Nature", which isn't on his number ones album.

I'd also feel kinda uncomfortable playing Michael Jacksons music if he gets convicted (although I dont think he will, as his accuser seems to be in the habit of making such accusations), which would be a terrible shame, as I love those two albums.

Dirty diana is a good song that is on this album, but not on HIStory. Shame that Liberian Girl wasnt on the album.

Though I think Off the Wall and Thriller are MJ best
album, I think the Bad album is under-rated and is a very good album. I think Smooth Criminal is a brilliant track and is the sort of song that only Michael Jackson can make.

Off The Wall's ace and v catchy,
Thriller's OK and eager to please,
Bad's a bit dodgy and samey but still good,
Dangerous is OK and likeable but also quite weird and overlong at times,
The 'new' disc of HIStory suffers from the same fate,
Invincible has some really good tracks, but is bogged down and spoilt by the weaker ones
