The NOTW is such a crappy paper, I stopped buying it years ago.

Unfortunately, Carole Malone has moved over to them and I used to really love her columns in the Sunday Mirror. I just pick up the NOTW now and read her column in the shops

In reagrds to this thread... what amaze me is that there hasn't been a massive outcry about the abuse of the free press being propagated mainly by the Daily Star group, but also News International's tabloids... it appears that they feel the publicity/sales that result from their fabrications; and the fact that so many 'targets' rarely bother to challenge them... has given them free reign... what worries me, is that the self same tabloid press has so many readers!

This really bothers me too. Also the way a tabloid will push its own particular point of view, couched in smarminess or pretend friendliness by drawing readers in to side with it by clever use of language. Usually one-sided and not reflecting the whole event, so that people actually go away with this impression that so and so says or thinks this. When there's actually no proof they've said anything or done anything.

It also bugs me how the tabs can turn a photo of say two people walking next one another into a full-blown romance and people believe it because they're tricked into thinking that way again, by clever wording and "sources" that are probably fabricated.

We literally exist on a diet of lies everyday in this country, getting false impressions of people and I think in a sense the tabloids have done their bit to make Britain a nastier, nosier, pushier and more rage-fuelled society because people are so quick to get angry at people through stories and they don't even understand why.

I should add I read certain gossip (like here) because it allows people to vent and that's what interests me more, people reactions to these stories, not the stories themselves so much. I like to see how much people can be taken in, or not by things. There are quite a lot of smart cookies here, which is what makes it enjoyable.

It has a point about most of them but raunchy modelling and lesbian groping?? They've got a picture of a topless Geri Halliwell in there and a picture of Mel B snogging another woman. I can't believe that this hypocritical load of poo of a snooz-paper can complain about things like that and then they go and print pictures of naked and semi-naked women in it every week. They love it and they love the lesbian stuff too. Hypocrites!
