What other satellites can I receive?

I have a spare sky digibox and dish. Can anyone tell me what other satellites I could pick up if it is pointed in the right direction? Thanks.

Hotbird 13E & Astra 1 at 19E are the best bets, although some of the Hottie transponders are unavailable to digiboxes as they use non standard sr's

Thanks for the reply. Is there a channel list available anywhere for these satellites?

@ Analoguesat

What do you mean (" as they use non standard sr's ") by that remark?
Are you insinuating that other operators on different satellites are useing SR's that are non-standard?
Who has decided upon this "standard SR", and where can the necessary documentation be found?

Many thanks to all who replied. I don;t suppose any of the channels on the other satellites show Premiership or Champions League football live?

Yes. Sky digibox no use if you need subscription card.
Look on LJs or satfootball.

Plenty of channels show uk Premiership - but nothing fta You will need to invest in some new equipment / subscriptions to get them. DONT ask questions about avoiding pay tv charges here on DS!!

In my personal experiences, I found that using a Sky Digibox on 'other' satellites is a complete waste of time. I once tried it with Astra1 and the frequencies didn't work accuretly, the channels I did get only stayed for half a minute before I got an error message, and then when I tried to use the box back on normal Sky Digital it was never as good as before ( despite re-booting it several times! )

I really woulden't bother to be honest...

You can use a Sky digibox but you are better with a proper receiver.

Analoguesat - I do actually pay a Sky subscription and resent your comments. I do not think that there is anything wrong in asking if you can watch football FTA.

Hey - no offense meant - its often the next question asked by folks new to the forums, and Im sure many of the regulars would back me up. Such discussions are not allowed on these forums, as Im sure you are aware.

You van watch plenty of football fta, just not British stuff which is what 99% of folks want.

Analoguesats comments backed up .
Lots of FTA footy on many satellites. I find that foreign football matches more interesting to watch as the play is a lot better than that of the overpaid "prima donnas" that seem to belong to the UK football teams.
