Late Show with David Letterman (Part 2)

there was a Tony Mendez show recorded back stage (in the offices) when they were prepping the 4am show.

I think letterman's opening line was 'this is an experiment in sleep and comedy deprivation'

or something. people in the audiance were wearing dressing gowns and sleep wear for the show...looked quite cool.

I think a thread can only take so many posts, then they have to split it into another one. So well done everyone - pretty impressive that a show that's not even shown on UK TV can attract such a large thread!

I loved the 4am episode. Amy Sedaris did a live segment showing us round her neighbourhood in Greenwich Village. I love Amy.

Anyone watched the Obama episode yet? Excellent interview from Dave, one of the best I've seen him do - nice mixture of seriousness and comedy and Obama came across incredibly well. Enjoyed the heart shaped potato too!

Line of the night: "It's important to remember that I was black before the election"!

EDIT: Yes, I see everyone has seen the Obama episode, and discussed it on the first thread! Sorry!

Strange that Ricky Gervais isn't an upcoming guest as he has his new movie to plug and Dave seems to like him.

It turns out Dave stuck the Presidential Seal sticker on the LS mug upside down - http://www.jacksonnjonline.com/2009/...avid-letterman

Tonight's show will mark Dave's 5000th show (this includes Late Night and Late Show together) - http://www.hollywoodoutbreak.com/200...friday-sept-25

Anyone seen Dave's new 5000th show billboard?

I've embedded a clip on my site - http://www.lateshowuk.com/shows/late...show-milestone

I watched the Bill Clinton episode earlier - another fantastic show.

I also finally watched the first episode of The Jay Leno Show today - it was okay but I wasn't blown away by it. Very similar to The Tonight Show.

I have a feeling the Leno Show will tank.
How much room is there on USTV for all these Shows?
As Dave pointed out a while ago, "...just one of the thousand late night talk-shows..."
Hes not THAT far from the truth there!
Not to mention the finite number of guests to be shared around?

I've just watched the last Tonight Show with Jay - Howard Stern was right Jay WAS reading off the auto cue when thanking his staff. hah. Jaywalking was funny, though.

I put a clip on the old thread because Stern was THAT good.
"I dont like Leno-I never liked Leno, the guy was reading off cue cards-wheres the emotion?
Heres the only host you need!!" (points at Dave)
Letterman seemed REALLY appreciative of Sterns Leno bashing!

Couldn't resist.
Enjoy!
Sterns Leno bashing starts at 4m11s, but the whole segment is worth watching!
I bet NBC/Leno were watching this with their heads in their hands

Yeah, the Madonna appearance has been all over the Internet today.

Dave and Madonna enjoyed pizza at Angelo's Pizza during the show!

And her entrance into the theatre was a bit over the top.

I see CBS is re-branding the old "zone" channels with their name.

Any hope of them showing Letterman? not like anyone else has bought it.

Oh dear.

Breaking news on US CNN. David Letterman is involved in a 2 million dollar extortion plot. He has had sex with female staffers and they want to reveal names. He admits to the affairs and testified. I want to think that this is a joke for his show but it seems it is true.
