Pixillation
My tv picture is pixillating on various channels. Would this be a problem with the tv or something I need VM engineer to check please?
I've checked the connections, is there something else I should check? |

You could try turning off the stb at the socket for 30 secs and back on again.
Sounds like you need to ring faults tho as it's usually a signal fault. |

Let C/S check your signal levels wile your on the line ,i would phone during office hour's if possible,if your signal's are o.k. they could do 3 thing's ,1 sent engineer out to check connections and check local area box's 2.check there is no maintenance going on locally or no regional fault's 3. if you don't mind losing your recording's they could re-format your box for you,if you agree.
If you call out-with office ours it's unplug box and wait ,check card at back of box (again,)then checking your signal, and booking engineer it signal is o.k.,all very boring and read strait from script. If you've had your signal checked and they cannot detect any probs and booked you an engineer, then fine, wait for engineer but if you have to wait a week and the problem still persists you could re-format the box your self, but lose all recording's,that's if your box is a V+. Now I'm not going to encourage you to reformat yourself because it could be any number of reasons, you box might just need signal's tweaked a little,,but just in-case you do have to wait a good wile and you do have a V+ ,then you could search 'reformatting V+ setting's ' from the search box at the top right of this page and you will get the setting's you need, but better to wait a couple of day's for engineer,if the problem persists after engineer visit . I would not hesitate to re-format,it is quite a common problem and work's very well. I'm not 100% sure that the reformatting setting's will work with the new samsung's,but can remember it being quoted as o.k. for samsung. This should be your last resort if you are getting nowhere after engineer visit,or have to wait too long,i take it you checked your area for fault's at virgin help page,'service status',if there is a problem in area a fault ticket is opened to investigate and closed when problem is investigated and sorted.. |

Hi reformating wouldn't help you if you have signal problems..
![]() Try checking the screw on connections are tight on the back of the box ,on the wall socket, and on the splitter if you have one. ![]()

my signal levels are fine, engineers have been out and replaced the box and checked everything. Still get pictures that turn to mush when they start to move quickly. Have been told by an engineer who called round and by CS people on the phone that "pixelation is to be expected" and that is just how digital TV is.

Depends what you mean by pixelation.
If you mean the picture actually breaking up and freezing, then there's a fault somewhere. If you mean it's slightly blocky or not good quality when pictures are moving quick like the above poster, then that is just how it is. I'm guessing you have an LCD tv? What a lot of people don't realise is if you get an HD ready tv, then use a normal stb with standard def pictures, the quality is poor compared to normal CRT tvs. It's like having a brand new state of the art car and putting crappy old 4 star petrol in it. |

Thank you all for the advice. I'll put up with it until we've finished decorating the room. Perhaps moving it around has loosened something.
