Yes it gets very boring after you have seen it once. Unfortunately the message is FAR bigger than it needs to be and you are forced to clear it to watch the channel. A less intrusive one line message at the bottom would be more than adequate. I see it on 5, Fiver and Five US when scanning my favourite channels - it probably is on others which I have omitted from the favourites.

I suspect these messages will be on certain channels on certain days. It was on ITV ones on Thursday but not on Friday, only Five, Fiver and Five USA. Haven't seen one today but this would make sense.

Today I decided to do a rescan knowing that my Matsui IDTV may never work on Freeview again. Amazingly it worked without any problems

I did a Rescan and I am having problems with Virgin 1 because I set the Record Programme to Record Takahashi's Castle at 9.00am and when I got home from work all I got was a Blank Screen
it happened twice the next day it said Virgin 1 to resume at 9.00am it happened again was it the weather or is freeview messing us about with Loss of Channels

try setting it to start recording at 9:01am as the switch-over back to virgin1 might be confusing your PVR. so give it time to switch before you start it recording.

Once a week sounds very sensible to me.

Once, maybe twice, a year.

i disagree. you only really need to re-scan if a new channel launches that you want to see (or if a mux changes frequency). so in reality its once or twice a year (like talldave says).

doing it every week is a waste of time and energy.
