Yeah im trying to stay positive. I was a HUGE leon supporter in series 4 and every week thought he was going out because of the way the judges were to him and his general lack of support on this forum and he went on to win it and that i never expected in a million years if im honest so i always think of that now when i get worried But there again he was never in the bottom 2 like lloyd

I remember when he'd performed that I thought he'd done his best, but in retrospect tonight he paled in comparison to most of the others.

If tonight's performance was his best vocal then oh dear. Don't get me wrong, he seems like a lovely kid and I don't dislike him as a person. But his singing voice atm isn't great - maybe in a few years, but I don't think he's ready just yet.

Llloyd & Leon seem to behave much the same way on-stage/set. They're both pretty quiet, camera-shy, laidback and generally didn't reveal much or speak much about themselves when the microphone was shoved under their nose.

What worries me is that Leon received a lot of stick for this, especially on these forums because I remember it well and if Lloyd continues to defy the odds, and get through, people will start to pick him apart.

Yes i agree, and i think they both have unique tones to their voices. Probably why i like them both. But Leon was destroyed every week on this forum, probably why i never comtemplated him winning and every week expected him out! But the problem is Lloyd was in the bottom 2 last week and cheryls clear bias to joe isnt helping things, at least leon had dannii that has more clue of what shes doing

I quite like Lloyds voice, and I loved the song tonight. You can just hear a soft welsh lilt to it that I think is really nice. I don't think he made a mistake with that note either, I think his throat isn't yet back to totally healthy yet and just couldn't get there. He doesn't seem the type to moan about it to me and make excuses or anything, which I admire. He's a cool lad.

It was his best song to date and there were far worse performances tonight so he might be in with a chance of staying. Hes probably the weakest singer after Jedward but he doesnt annoy me half as much as Danyl, Lucie and Jamie. So I dont mind if he stays another week or two.

I thought the standard of tonight's performances proved that last year's batch were far better than this year's... However, here is my ranking for the night...

1. Stacey - It wasn't as brilliant as her cover of Coldplay's The Scientist (which I think remains as her best performance so far) but I have to credit Stacey so much for stepping out of her comfort zone... for trying to prove herself as a versatile artist and at the same time for the personality that only Stacey can have and nobody else (like Rachel or Lucie) can ever copy.

2. Danyl - I dont usually like Danyl for simple reason; he's too cocky. But I think his performance tonight was great and it wasnt as cocky as his weeks 1 & 2 and not as lame as week 4. His vocals were good too.

3. John & Edward - It wasn't certainly the best of the night but the entertainment value, again, is these kids' power and advantage over the other contenders. As Simon said, it wasnt as bad as the other weeks.

4. Olly - We've established he is a good performer but I think Simon needs to give him big ballads as he is becoming predictable week by week and if he gonna stick to that, there's no way he can win the show.

5. Joe - For the first time, I am afraid for Joe. He nailed the high notes but I thought it was a lame performance and does not show the best he can give.

6. Jamie - It wasn't as brilliant as his rendition of Hurt. He isn't comfortable with his performance and I can see him possibly landing in bottom 2 tomorrow.

7. Lucie - Song choice was awful and I think Danni stick Lucie in this kind of genre and sad to say, Lucie's voice is very annoying and not as sweet an brilliant as the established popstars of her age.

8. Lloyd - What more can I say... It's time to go Mr. Lloyd!

I think it was his best, but still not good enough, especially for week 5.

The song did suit him but the judges tried to make out that if that's the best he can sing, difficulty of song wise, there's no point him staying around bit longer.

However I think the part where he came and sang to Cheryl was a bit pointless .

(PS. anyone work out what Cheryl and Simon were argueing about at the start of Lloyd's routine?)

Let's be fair to Lloyd: his an adorable young man.

Let's be fair to ourselves: we *don't* have to like his singing.

I thought that was Lloyd's best vocal yet. He's got a really nice vocal tone, but he's just too weak in his control and his range.....just now. That lad could do well with a lot of work and maybe a band behind him.

He comes accross as totally adorable and there is some potential in his voice. However I think the worst thing for him was being put through this year. If he hadn't been put through to the live shows, he would have had some great experience and hopefully some pointers to work on and in a few years may have been in a stronger position.

I do agree, but the negative side to that is that he might have ended up tied to Syco. This way he get's weeks of promotion to millions of people, a big ready-made fanbase and all the girls he can handle...and he's not even 17 yet.

I wondered that too but not seen anything on here about it.

As for Lloyd, I think he's lucky to have come this far in the competition, he can go home with his head held high.

I liked him last night and you could hear that his voice wasn't quite back to normal. He surprised me with that big note.

I hope he does come back in a few years, he will still be cute, and show how he's improved.

I don't think you can come back as a contestant on Xfactor if you get to the live finals

Very true lloyd can go out with his head held high
He did his best performance vocaly and was the most confident i think he has ever been.

This will all have been a great experience for him, and he knows that he does have a large-fan base that adore him.

PLUS come on....Lloyd has got about 100,000 girls wanting to do him.

That must be a good feeling for any 16 year old boy

I really enjoyed Lloyds performance last night. His voice is obviously not to everyones taste but I enjoy it more than alot of acts on the show. I think he will be in trouble tonight though and dont think the judges will save him unless he is bottom two with the twins.

I think they're arguing about the VT, Simon says "and that's why it's on".

Something to do with showing clips of Lloyd singing badly in the singoff maybe?
e.g. Cheryl - Why was that on the VT, you know he had a sore throat?
Simon -(Yes). And that's why it's on ...(to show he had been ill)

Not much speculation there then
I am sure he says "and that's why it's on" though. Has to be the VT.

They couldn't win though - the same clip showed him at his strongest with the big note! The rest of the performance was dull and uninteresting. In my opinion at least.

Definately Lloyd's best performance, i don't think he'll make it to next week though. But still, it's much better for him to go out after his best performance than after a terrible one!
