Can I ask.. HD DVD's
Right I have a DVD recorder it has got an HDMI output from it and this is how its connected to my TV set. Does that mean it will play HD DVD's?? Thanks |

P.S. You do realise HD-DVD is now largely obsolete? EDIT: Just thought that you may have meant DVDs with HD recordings on them rather than HD-DVD, it won't play those either. |

You would need a new Blu Ray player/PS3 to play any 'HD' film. HD players/DVD's are a dead format. As far as I know there's no Blu Ray recorder machines yet as the technology is still new and expensive. |

Depends on your point of view.
As my first dvd player was £550 and my first dvd recorder was £500 , the £495 of a Bluray recorder is pretty good considering it plays Blurays, records Blurays, records HD to its HDD and has Freesat built in. Mulitregion Magic also do fully multiregion versions of them too so one will definitely be on my shopping list as soon as my current multiregion Bluray gets a bit older |

My first DVD Player (no recording at all) was a Pioneer 515 (from memory) - a big silver thing pre-2000. It cost me £499.99.
Back in 1994, I bought a near top of the range Mitsubishi VHS recorder. That was £449.99. If you go even further back in time, you will find equipment priced even higher - like £600, £800. |

The Panasonic Bluray recorder acts as a Bluray player , a dvd recorder , PVR (it has twin tuners),standard HDD recorder ,so it could actually replace at least 3 of my current devices (dvd recorder ,Bluray player ,freeview PVR) so £449 is a bargain - its a shame that like my current Bluray player the premium for multiregional Bluray still adds £130 to the price |
