I'd watch that episode, as long as they bring Malcolm back.

If other rumours are correct, I think they should end the series after this one, as it sounds like, by the end of this series, everyone is leaving. If they do another series, I think they should get rid of everyone except Harry, Ros and Ruth. Bring back Malcolm and bring in some new decent characters similar to those like Tom, Adam, Danny, Zoe and Fiona. Ros should go back to the way she was when we first met her (apart from the traitor bit.)
I really like Malcolms replacement, he's different enough that you don't have to compare them, they are two totally different characters who just happen to be doing the same job. I think he's going to be a great addition to the grid and sincerely hope he doesn't get killed off at the end of the series!

Yeah it's an interesting one! I think there is chemistry between them but whether they are genuinely acting on it or using it to double cross one and other is another question and it def wouldn't surprise me! I don't trust Sarah for a minute, so even if that moment was genuine she'll prob use it against him in the future anyway. The only qualm I have with Lucas was that wasn't he mourning his dead wife or something like that in the last series ... he didn't seem ready to get romantically involved with anyone again, yet suddenly he is!

Can somebody who is watching it PLEASE start a BBC3 Pace thread (I'm not as I am trying to stick with BBC1).

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

There are spoilers creeping through in this thread which is unfair as there is no warning.

At the moment it's okay but I'll be very annoyed if a major one gets out.

I'm with you urban Bassman - i am trying to stick with the BBC1 pace, however, reading this thread could give the game away with people talking about next weeks episode.

Please set a BBC3 Pace thread up!!

Not sure I'm liking this season.. I fear it's getting to the stage where they're running out of storylines. Another Ros hostage episode?!

Hmm. Some parts of episodes just seem so unlikely. I mean an MI5 agent slips you a room key and indicates a girl will be waiting there and he isn't suspicious?!

Will give it a chance. I did enjoy the episode and I like spooks, but I just hope it doesn't lose it's edge.

Good point, but don't tell me you wouldn't. You did see her in that white dress, right?

Just wish she'd managed get a least a little more kit off

(Sorry! )

I'm with you on that one... haven't got into this series at all so far, whereas I've enjoyed the previous series immensely. May well be that it's time to call it a day and go out on a high (though that may already have been last season...)

A good point, well made.

I enjoyed it tonight - it was quite a typical Spooks episode, whereas the first episode didn't quite gel for me. It's nice to see Robert Glenister being given a prominent role, he captures the conniving ruthlessness of a senior politician very well.

Oh, I miss Malcolm too, but the new kid on the block seems streets ahead of whatshisname who got offed by Connie last year (that really was a mercy killing).

I enjoyed this episode, a marked improvement on the first and a lot closer to what I've come to expect from Spooks.

I thought it was a very balanced episode, giving enough breathing room to introduce this new technician character (Tareq I think) and allowing for the often overlooked Jo to really get a good seat in the action. Ros was as great as usual and I'm liking Lucas more and more with each episode. This newcomer Sarah Caulfield certainly looks intriquing, and while I was never a fan of some romances in the show (Adam's series five daliance with Martha Jones' sister) I think this could have some fuel behind it considering the tension between the two nations.

Nice to see Ruth back soon, I really thought they'd keep her out of the picture for an episode or two before getting her warmed back up toward Harry, but I don't think her appearances and the first steps toward getting her back on the grid seemed rushed. Liking the rest of the cast too.

I'm looking forward to the next episode and while I agree certain scenarios have been done before, I don't think another hostage situation is a bad thing. Ros is one of the strongest characters on the show and always works best in those kind of situations so it should make for entertaining viewing. Plus, this one looks like it'll be particularly gruelling, unlike the half comical lead in to the Saudi Embassy one back series five.

Yes, it's great to see Glenister still in the role, but isn't it slightly unrealistic to have the same Home Secretary in office for so long? Our real life government seems to go through Home Secs in no time at all, and this Spooksverse one has had plenty of security cock-ups on his watch.

Sorry it this has already been commented on, but....

The picture at the end for the Spooks cast... Lucas, Ros and Harry where there. It had Tariq in there, it had Ruth in there - but no Jo.... Did anyone else spot that? Does that mean Jo's about to be killed off the the BBC just put the wrong image out?

Didn't Ros instruct him to "get close to her" in Ep. 1?

Yes, that's true. I keep expecting Malcolm Tucker (from The Thick of It) to barge in and turn his hairdryer on, as it were ...

After rewatching the episode, I still don't buy the lucas/ sarah relationship. Think there both using each other.

spoiler:
Miranda Raison said on GMTV that she is "departing" (her words) during this series but wouldn't/couldn't divulge any more than that. Given that we've already lost Malcolm this series in a 'happy' exit I'm not too confident about Jo's outlook.

I was wondering if Miranda Raison was pregnant? Apart from in the hotel at the end of the second episode, they seemed to be cutting around her an awful lot - head and shoulder shots only, or computer monitors artfully placed in front of her midriff. It reminded me of the way they edited around Billie Piper in the second series of Call Girl. Anyone know?
