did you change the jumper setting on the drive at all ?My drive seems to need the CS jumper for the Sky box and the MASTER setting for the USB converter I use, if the jumper is in the wrong place it does not pick up the drive on reboot. I've also got a 2 way PC ribbon cable on my box though, the original one fell apart.

Just a quick update where I am with this.
I now have a Pace V1 box which has been upgraded to 5.07.u this morning, so I now have something to test on. I also have some images from various people (thanks to all concerned for sending them), but unfortunately they all seem to have slightly different symptoms! I am currently working my way through them and trying various things to see if I can get to the bottom of this issue. In the meantime, anyone with this issue I'd recommend a backup and restore with Copy+ as this has resolved the issue for others in this thread. If that doesn't work then I'm still happy to assist, but I'm a bit snowed under at the moment - so it may take a while! |

I don't think this is related only to modded boxes - my parent's unmodded Pace V3 had the '...recovery failed...' message after the software updated the other day.
Fixed (so far) with a full reset and loss of everything in the planner. Will let you know if it goes belly up again. |

Update:
The box is still working after the copy+ backup restore, albeit with the loss of copy functionality for pre-crash programmes. I also got a call from $ky asking if I had any problems with my box ! Baa.. like they care ! They must have realised that their update caused a major problem. |

This happened within the last couple days for me — the box was working on Sunday evening and I haven't turned it on until tonight. Amstrad Model #A2P0705 Version #4F2111 OS 1.31B10 EPG 5.07u It's been running a 500GB PATA Seagate drive for over a year, with no problems. Grr. |

Only just found this thread.
Last week I got the Sky+ recovery failed on my V3 Amstrad with a year old 500Gb disk in. After two reboots that didn't fix it I removed the card and LNB cables and left it powered off for a good 15 mins. Seemed to take an age coming out of standby when I restored power but it all came back ok and I can see (and play) all the stored programs. Only lasting effect is that I seem to have lost the Copy function on all pre-problem recordings. Bit of a pain but better than losing everything. |

My Pace V2 box with 500Gb hard drive hit this problem on Friday. I checked the software version, and sure enough the new update had been applied. Only way I could get everything working again was to use the Copy + program and then a FSR... Annoying !
