STL today

Quote:
Billboard magazine reported on Wednesday that in the wake of the scandal of Adam Lambert’s appearance on the American Music Awards show, advance sales for his album, "For Your Entertainment," have skyrocketed. The album, which will be released next week, has passed 225,000 in sales with Billboard estimating it will reach at least 600,000 — and more, if Sony can keep it in stock, which it is scrambling to do, not having expected such demand.

The album was released the day after the performance so there would have been no need to pre-order it after the performance.

Also the 600k figure is what is being projected for Susan Boyle's sales and it is that CD that has been reported all over the place as stores running out of stock and Sony struggling to re-stock them.

Maybe they meant store re-orders instead of pre-orders.

I read that stores had been stocked with about half a million copies of Susan Boyle's CD but that they were selling out within two days so predictions were now much higher than the 600k originally predicted.

It could be that stores are having to restock Adam's album as well (I know there have been reports of many Walmart branches selling out in the first day) and that predictions could now be a lot higher than original predictions or revised predictions.

What a shock People on the YT clips of the Early Show and Letterman saying that he mimed to look good after the AMAs. You have to laugh. Anyone would think he didn't sing live on TV for four months.

Mandy, You beat me to it.

Yes violence over sex that's mostly America for you. What makes me laugh its alright watching too women kissing and shown over and over which serves mainly the heterosexual male fantasy.

As we can see a gay man becomes a threat to mainly the male heterosexual population (IMHO) that it should cause such an outrage. 'Makes them feel uncomfortable'-vibe. The kind of discomfort that says its bad, its sick and abnormal. Should be kept in closet where it belongs. Please! Homophobic America wake up.

Adam has touched on something that no one has dared to do. How could he? Needs to be put in his place. That's the new buzz out there.

Adam's next record can handle these issues even more. Controversy sells. Ask Prince?

I will not be surprised if he sells much more than the recent new figures predicted. Not that he would not have sold well anyway. GO Adam.

This heterosexual woman loves you.

Regards

Babeth

~Thanks for all the links etc guys ... The Letterman performance was great .. holy hot pantzzzzzzz Batman.

Was it sung live (I know it was pre recorded) or was it mimed? ... it certainly sounded different to the album version and yes the backing was no doubt some pre record stuff at least and he had echo on his voice ... but if if was mimed he did it really well as he seemed to be breathing in all the right bits .. lol

Either way he sounded and looked fabulous .. so did the band.

Echo can be added as sound effect to a live vocal. For example, on the live tour at the end of Life On Mars, through bits of Mad World and Let's Dance.

This Guardian female jounalist links Adams performance with sex & violence??? What exactly was violent? Maybe she wants some exposure.

It seems some people see and interpret things differently. See the comments

She obviousy sees a bit of rough sex as being violent .. I think some of these reporters are looking far too deep into these things and making far more out of it that it was ..... it's like The Mary Whitehouse Brigade on heat.

yeah I know that .. I was just wondering if that's why people think it was mimed and it got me wondering if if was a mime to a pre record as the vocals were that good.

Adam didn't mime on either of the shows, even though you could hear the echo on the backing vocals. He sang slightly differently on Letterman than he did on the Early Show. I thought he must've been a bit tired for Letterman, as they had all only jetted in early that same morning, so not a lot of rest before the taping. He was more polished for the Early Show.

In any case, he sounded great for both shows. He must be absolutely thrilled to be singing his own songs, after 9 months of singing covers.
