a good episode, i know some DS'ers expect supernatural to be like 24 and non stop arc but having a mix of standalones and arc makes me appreicate these types of episodes more
sad to see ellen and her daughter die, but they went out swinging! im guessing death is gonna be 1 hot momma from lucifers reaction! |

Sigh
![]() Nobody wants/expects Supernatural to be 'non-stop arc' in the way you mean, the problems a few of us have is the *timing* of the comedy episodes. I don't know how many times that has to be said before the rest of you understand that? |

i quite like the way the story is going at the moment. tbh if it was totally focused on the apocalypse it would get quite boring and too heavy, but when we have some comedy stuff through it, it still shows that even tho the apocalypse is here they still have other stuff to do and the shows meant to be fun & dark cos if it wasnt, frankly imho, not too many people would watch it

Thinking back, was it ever finally explained how Sam & Dean go in the plane in the season opener, or how Cas came back? I know they suggested God at the time, but was it implied one way or another? |

Discodolly 25, you're so right
I've enjoyed the episodes from season 5 so far and I didn't have any complaints against the timing of the 'comedy' episodes because, with Supernatural, there is always potential for something deeper and I wasn't disappointed. The writers could have had everybody depressed with non-stop woe-is-me episodes but, thankfully, they did something a little diffferent than the norm and isn't that why the majority of fans love Supernatural? We all understand your complaints, NinjyBear, as you've repeated them often, but they are your complaints. We don't have to agree with you and you don't have to agree with us.As my Gran once said--People are starving in other parts of the world so just take it easy. I'm sure the writers have plenty of apocalyptic angst waiting for us in January

There is a difference between criticising the pace of a show and criticising the quality of a show. With the exception of ep9 this season's episodes have been brilliant, but Kripke has stated several times before that he started with a 5 year plan, and there are plenty of us who want him to stick with it which means this season has to be arc-heavy to reach a satisfying conclusion. 1 future episode, 3 comedy episodes, and 2 comedy-arc episodes out of the first 10 is a bit of a kick for those of us hoping the show doesn't drag on longer than it has to. Many brilliant shows have made that mistake before, I don't want Supernatural to go the same way. |

why dont we all wait n see whats gonna happen in the next few episodes? for all we know it could be a fast-forward to detroit (was it detroit the devil says? i cant remember now
) 6 months later. im sure kripke knows what he's doing he's been doing it for 5 seasons already!!!we all have different reasons for liking the series, some like the brotherly drama, some like the comedy aspects but at the end of the day we all want the same thing, to find out what happens next!! for all we know kripke n co may have had to "pad out" the season and he has done with great comedic effect. think about it folks, in the past hasnt he always pulled it off for the season finale?? from what ive noticed from other series like buffy angel charmed etc is that they usually have individual episodes at first then as the seasons go on, the storyline goes on for longer and longer til a whole season is filled but, to my knowledge anyway, these shows in the later seasons may be mid story but they still put the odd one or two single episodes in there thats shoots off from the main storyline (does that make sense??) |

Take out episode 5 and 9, episode 8 is Abandon all Hope. The hunters failed to kill Lucifer, they don't know what to do next. While they are trying to work out what to do next they decide to work a case, which leads to Fallen Idols. The problem there is that you don't go into the hiatus with a " " face, but at least the season is better paced. Anyone who is watching now will still be there when it comes back. There's still so much that needs/asking/answering, I'd rather get some of that out the way now instead of trying to cram it in to the last 12 episodes. |

NinjiBear, the season does not have to be arc heavy to have a satisfying conclusion. An arc heavy season may turn people off. Sera Gamble has outlined a few of the upcoming episodes and I'm sure that Eric Kripke knows what he's doing. He's done a good job so far.
Also, we're not all 'pro-comedy' as you say.I enjoyed those episodes as much as the dramatic ones and I'm sure many fans feel the same way. Here's an interesting article about the CW. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ed-mar..._b_369480.html |

^^ Lies. Next episode has a date, but I can't remember exactly when. The second or third Thursday of January.
ETA: To clarify, IMDB are lying, not you. You're the best!

Episode 5.11, 'Sam Interrupted', will be shown on the CW on Jan 21st.It looks fantastic
![]() I also have a feeling that 'Death' will be a woman. The way Lucifer greeted 'Death' had me thinking that right away, though we could all be wrong

Was it WAR we met earlier in the season? He was such a disappointment to be honest. They figured out how to destroy him far too quickly. But that said it was a pretty good episode over all.
I just want Michael to hurry his ass up now. |

Yeh, it was War. I'd assume the other 2 will also show up at some point.

I'm pretty sure Plague, Pestilence and Famine will appear at some point. Just a guess. I'd like Famine to be a super skiiny female (not hard to cast in Hlooywood, mieuw) as per the Terry Pratchett 'Good Omens'.
I love the idea of War being a hot female. A symbol of being faught over? |

At the end of the preview for episode 5.11 the caption said that the show returns on Jan. 21st, which fooled a lot of media people who had been given the 14th as the date when season 5 resumed.I'm hoping that the 21st was just a mistake.
I don't think Sam & Dean destroyed Death as he vanished far too easily. I think Famine may appear for the planned Valentine's Day episode. |
