By jove! The whole thing in a nutshell there. People whinging about ITV providing them with football without a subscription...how odd!

Itv have Never been able to present Football, Sport full stop after their truely Dreadful Rugby wc 99 , which incidentley was voted the Worst Ever sports programme of the Last century )would be hard not to be voted this one either) i mean getting a Neswsreader (Mary Nightingal;e) to do the Highlights programme shiowed how truely Awful it was
And as for the Championship,, is without doubt by a country mile the Worst presented i have ever seen in 40 Years Matt Smith was clueless idiot to(there are other words to describe him to none of them Printable)
So thank god for the BBC as the Football League Show is a breath of fresh air, following on from IMO, the best Ever
highlights show in MOTD and its free to

Personally I mourn 'The Championship'. It was the perfect format for the football league highlights. The 'Football League Show' is awful. I record it so that I can fast forward through all the rubbish, makes the programme about 40 minutes long instead of 75!

The Football League fan is great for followers of League 1 and League 2 clubs, who now get about 15 minutes per League instead of being crammed into as short a space as possible.

I have found myself doing this more often now too.

I haven't timed it myself, but apparently the number of minutes of football in The Football League Show is the same as was in The Championship, despite it running for 25 minutes longer.

And there is still only eight minutes of each of Leagues 1 and 2.

arius - any update on FA Cup rights negotiations?

It's getting tight for any deal to be done in time for the 3rd round.

As a fan of a League 2 club, it certainly seems longer - we get a little analysis, we get a little feature on a club in the division, we get shots and saves and not just the goals.

I've got no comparable times, but I doubt the League 2 section ever ran to 8 minutes on the ITV show.

ITV must be reading this thread

They have picked Arsenal's match in Greece rather than a dead match invloving Liverpool
for the last Group games in the Champions League

Remember sometimes ITV would give us zero mins for lower league football . A few times i can remember waiting to see league 1/2 goals and either there being no show broadcast or just to rub it in they show the Championship matches/ goals and then finish the programme

I actually think the BBC's version is a great improvement on "The Championship" 75mins is about right imho.

Also the match highlights on the website are longer then whats shown on the TV which is a nice suprise..

You can say that again!

I thought it would be fairly quick and straightforward to find a new home for Setanta's old rights, but it seems to be dragging on forever.

I thinks thats the game plan for someone like Sky/ESPN to acquire them a bit cheaper....

Thank god I've got Al Jazeera just in case.

BBC want to show them but would be paying less than ITV, and there is conflict over the final, both ITV and Setanta showed final last year and BBC want to show it.
Negotiations are on going

If we're taking about replays, nothing stopping ITV4 from showing a live replay next Tuesday. Only Champs Lge coverage on ITV is Wednesday

Do you know if there's a deal close for taking over Setanta's rights, or is it looking likely the FA will just continue with the same arrangements as the first two rounds? (Extra game on ITV + games on the web).
