That's worrying carl. I'm not sure SGU writers have the skill to do a mainly charatcer based show.

Incidentally, I've been reading that downloadable free edition of Stargate magazine and it does mention, often, that the show isn't supposed to be about the "alien of the week" like the other shows, but more about the problems they have as a group in coping with situation in which they find themselves. That's not to say that there won't be any alien contact
I saw an interview with Mr Carlisle saying pretty much the same thing. The only problem with a character driven series is that you need likeable characters and this series doesn't seem to have any. It has a few good looking characters, but they are also very annoying.

But they aren't exactly pulling that off are they?

If you are going to go Character driven (as many a fine drama is) then you need characters you can engage with. You might not like them, but they interest you.

So far, not a one I give a jot about. Not interested in their back stories, their future or their interactions. They are all 'meh'. Can't identify with a single one, can empathise even less.

Contrast with even the saccharin SGA, Taylor as a mother I identify with. Up themselves clever clogs like McKay - I know people like that. Ronan is too darn sexy so visually I want him on screen. Shepard is the hero we can aspire to.

Stereo types to a man - but if you can't do complex yet engaging (think most of the BSG crew) then do what you know. Stereotypes and lots of explosions.

tbh, by the end I dont think even BSG were pulling that off. To begin with yeah, but as they streched out the series they overdid the brooding. Brooding does not automatically equate to interseting or deep.

I agree with the rest though. SG should stick to what they are good at: safe, harmless, colourful, loud space adventure fun type sci-fi. Stop trying to copy whatever is flavour of the month.

from all the reviews ive seen on here and speaking from my own personal experience of this show, its like a really really bad bsg rip off. like everyone else has said brad wright and robert c cooper need to stick to what they know with the good mix of comedy and bad stereotypes like we saw in sg and sga, personally im getting to the point where im only watching sgu out of habit and wanting something t watch more than enjoyment

I missed Tuesday night's episode, the first time this has happened, but I wasn't worried as Sky have been repeating it on Wednesday evening.......... until now; instead they were showing Stargate Continuum!!!!! WHY????? Anyone in the same position as me? Anyone know if there's a plan to repeat this episode? Anyone know where there is a website where I can see this episode? Is it worth seeing this episode? lol

Aha, that explains it. Thanks B1G_AL, and apologies to Sky for the many expletives thrown your way last night by myself.
