Polish TV in U.K

I would like to arrange for Polish T.V. to be beamed into my parents home. They do not have satellite T.V at the moment nor Freeview.

What equipment woulkd be required at approx what cost (initial install} and would a monthly subscription be payable? They are not interested in receiving SKY channels.

You will need a 80cm dish pointing to Hotbird, that's where Polsat is, and I think Cyfra+ is as well, but the subscription costs are expensive, i'd give you the link to a site which sells subs, but I don't want to get into trouble.

If they are happy with 10 or 11 Polish channels, then you can get these free from the Hotbird satellites. Currently available:

TVN / TVN Siedem / Mango 24 shopping / TVN Meteo / TVN Turbo / Polsat / Polsat 2 / TV Polonia / Tele 5 / Polonia 1 / ITV / Viva Polska.

If they want the pay tv channels, you are far better off organising the subscription and the receiver in Poland if yo have contacts.

You can get the subscriptions in the UK, but you pay a LOT for them. Do a Google search for Bradley Wood, and have a look at the prices.

If you are happy with 3 channels:
TVN, TVPi and TV4, you could get a very cheap (always under £50) analogue system, from a boot sale or a friend who may have changed to Sky Digital and point the dish to 13E.

I recently installed a dish for my polish landlady. I got a Technomate 5500DA which can see analogue and digital broadcasts. I put up an 80cm dish pointed at Hotbird, but got a monoblock LNB which allows her to see Hotbird and Astra 1 from the same dish.
She gets a few Polish channels and a few others like Sky News, CNN.

W3@7East has TVP Polonia which is FTA. The other services are encrypted Videoguard.

This is their website: http://www.tvp.com.pl/polonia/ and it's at 7 degrees East on 11175 V, 27.5 MS/sec, 3/4

I always polish my TV. I'll get my coat....

Polish TV

We supply both Polsat and Cyfra official cards, although we are thinking of dropping Polsat because of technical difficulties with their dedicated boxes.
